His father died in the middle of the 1999 Cricket World Cup. After attending the final rituals, he scored a century (140 from 101 balls) in the next match and dedicated that century t0 his father. What a loving son!

Even now, whenever he scores a century he dedicates it to his father.

That is the reason why I would like to call the Master as a Loving son.

And even the love he has for the game?? That is one thing that always kept him driving. If we show such dedication to our work, we can certainly achieve greater things in life. And to go with that, self-belief. I am sure, this guy is very strong mentally.

Its obvious. Tendulkars cannot be found everywhere. Pearls are found in the deep sea not on the shore

There are, however, a host of stragglers that we see around. Even Sachin was once. However, his efforts bore fruits and luck went his way as well.

In the case of Tendulkar the word " Luck" is irrelevant. If today Tendulkar reached the pinnacles of glory, it's because he shed blood and sweat.

How many examples should I give of people who shed blood to reach th summit but couldn't. There was a time when Sachin got out in the 90s. There were unlucky edges that were caught and at times he got lives too. If you remember Sachin was out shoulder before wicket like leg before. There are hundreds of such examples like these. And yes Sachin played the most unceertain game which largely sways on luck.

Its mere fallacy to say that someone as great as Sachin achieved greatness simply by riding over on a wave of LUCK. Immortals like W.G Grace, Garfield Sobers,the great W trio of West Indies, Bradman, Polly Umrigar, Sir Vivian Richardds, Sir Ian Botham made a niche in the annals of Cricket by their merit and nothing but merit.

If somebody fails to reach top even after shedding blood and tears, it shows that there is no sincerity in their efforts. It shows that their efforts are inadequate.
If Sachin has unlucky edges and lives so are other greats. its the game to be blamed, not the man who holds the willow. When Sachin got out in 90s, he never uttered the word "Luck". He simply murmured to himself, I should have been a bit cautious."
Luck helps once, not all the time. That's why all the greats erased the word Luck from their lexicon. instead they used the word "Accident".

I didn't say Sachin was an example of luck. What I meant to say is that luck is associated with human in every walk of his life. One has to accept it, no matter how great or small the achievements of the person are.

Views differ. If Luck is associated with human life in every walk of life according to you, let it be so. You are entitled to have your view. But for me Luck is a lame excuse used by every non- performer.

I know once we thought that Sunil Gavaskar was ultimate in cricket but he was overtaken and the number of games being played these days, someone id going to leave even Sachin behind but he will always be there in cricket books and our memories.
