Miss America and racism

Americans need to be educated more in geography and ethnic differences between various Asian communities, but they are so arrogant and involved in themselves that they will not rise above that. But Nina has definitely shown her mettle as a true Indian and a modern cultured woman who has risen above all those ridiculous insults! Kudos to Nina!

There was quite a storm after Nina's selection as Miss America. I wanted to add exactly those things as Kalyani did. So, I won't be repeating the same over again.

I differ from this, as it is natural for them, as in India, there are some feelings about so called whites. There was a thread here about this of racist attitudes of Indians. It proves that all these are inherent instincts of humans despite color, creed and race differences.

I differ from this, as it is natural for them, as in India, there are some feelings about so called whites. There was a thread here about this of racist attitudes of Indians. It proves that all these are inherent instincts of humans despite color, creed and race differences.

MOhan, it is not natural. I agree there is still a feeling of animosity in them against blacks and other coloured people including Asians. But this particular case is purely the matter of arrogance and ignorance. They called her an Arab and a terrorist, words which are clearly synonymous for middle-eastern people. This is further proved by many frequent attacks against Sikh people in America who are mistaken for Arabs. We cannot forget what kind of treatment Sikhs were meted out after 9/11. So it is high time that they learn the difference between Indians and other Asians, because Indians are the ones who are contributing the most to their technology, education and economy than most Americans are!

USA is not giving visa to modi, but mentality of Americans are not healthy one. They forget that their President is a black person.

Well i think we are more racist then they are.. We are always in tussle with the people of different state. Always indulge in north , south , east , west funda.. Keep beating people because they are not from our state. At least they are just talking about it.. Far much better than us.. We need to look at our self first..

You can see it occurring in our own country where some states reacts too harsh on people who come from other states and face the music. This happens despite the fact that those very people helped build those countries or states. What I feel The US is more tolerant country in the world at least compared to our own. However I commend the girl who braved all what came her way.

They are as much racists as we are, actually they are more racist! I agree that we do have racism in our bloods but the bloodshed that occurs in the west in the name of race is more than in India!

We have caste, region, religion based prejudices but not racism. Here also this is more a question of self interest rather than hatred. I mentioned shiva Sena. shiva Sena often agitates against outsiders. But I am sure that shiva Sena does not dislike or hate outsiders. They are happy with others as long as they do not encroach upon opportunities of local Mumbai residents. They have nothing against Biharis but they just feel angry when Biharis come to Mumbai for selection in Railway and thereby harm locals employment opportunity. This is very different from racism in U.S.A., which is very deep rooted. In a way, caste and race prejudice are similar.

Then Gulshan ji , why do Indians have the concept of untouchables ? Why do we treat people who pick garbage as they are aliens. Nazi extremists still exist and their fight is with color they hate... If they are to be blamed, we are not saint either.. The way our behaviour changes with a muslim and a non muslim guys... I mean such kind of examples are there in every part of India so we can't say we are not racist...

I still believe that racism is a direct result of locals finding outsiders getting more than they deserve. I could be wrong but fact is outsiders get it through their hard work.
