Parliamentary elections are due next year. We need a national level party to lead the center- may be BJP or Congress or Left front who has national and international outlook.
But Mamata Banerjee wants a 'Federal Front of National parties'. It can be well imagined what various outfits engaged with regional issues only will do at national level. Will they shed regional approach at national level. even Mamata Banerjee thought of West Bengal only when she was Union Railway Minister. DMK of Tamilnadu also intervened on Srilanka issue from narrow regional angle only.

Even I have thought on these lines but we shall have to make a clear policy so that no dirty politics has its place in this system. Perhaps we can have representation based on party's strength. That will at least solve the initial problem of forming a government without horse trading and then parties would work to strengthen their own capacity/numbers.

Developing a 'national' outlook' is feasible, once they start working in the National level. Now as it is, even the National parties also working with a narrow outlook. They discriminate on the basis of 'Congress ruled states;, BJP ruled states'.
A federal front with a National outlook is not an impossible task

Presently any party and individual can contest any election. We need a change in law to allow only national level parties to contest the parliamentary elections. Regional level parties may be restricted to states only. They may be allowed to contest election for parliament only by arrangement with national level parties on latter's symbols. This will reduce the number of parties in parliament so that the need for opportunistic alignment with smaller parties and horse trading ends.

That's true. As you suggested, if all of them are implemented especially the condition that candidates from national parties only should contest the parliamentary elections.

I am totally amused at this idea floated by a highly immature politician who has neither that depth of knowledge nor any control over her utterances and actions. 'Federal Front' would be a still-born baby!!!

it is not possible. All experiment of this type failed in earlier. The one point agenda of all regional parties are to enjoy power. SP chief have one and only one dream to be PM of India.

There is no alternate left but to go for an all party government in future.

Present political scenario clearly indicates to what you said. Both at the center and states we are going to see coalition governments of different hues and colors. Single party rule will go in to the archives of history. Of course there will be strife and chaos all along.

The idea of all party government is not likely to work unless there is a single strong party that can force others to fall in line. For example, In Indonesia, Sukarno had a coalition with Communists, which was actually a forced one. similarly, in China, there are a number of political parties with whom Communist Party of china shares power. But other parties have no option but to accept the lead.
There is need that the political parties in India work out common policies on basis of which they may give governance. We cannot think of a coalition between extreme left and extreme right. Just take example of NDA. Now BJP has only allies like Shiva Sena and Akali Dal who similarly mix religion with politics. The only other party that had different ideology namely JD-U had to quit because of divergence of policies and ideology. Atal Behari was one leader who had the tactics to carry all with him. A similarly strong but moderate leader may be able to give a lead.

There was a senior congress leader of AP who was opposing the formation of ‘Telengana state’ claiming that formation of ‘Telengana state’ is against his ideology . Very recently, when he was offered a minister’s post, he says now “ sometimes it becomes necessary to forego the ideologies for the sake of the nation.”
You can’t find the word ‘ideology’ in the lexicons of political chameleons. Just offer a post, all ideologies will go to the back seat.

There is still ideology left. You may see Mamata Banerjee led Trinmool, AIADMK of Jai Lalitha, Telugu Desham in NDA as well as UPA and may be in third front. But still there can be no likelihood of Mulayam singh (S.P.), Lalu Yadav (RJD) and the left parties aligning with BJP in NDA. If this is possible, I may agree with you.
