So far, there is hue and cry over 'parrot C.B.I.' But judiciary is still independent. In fact, unlike C.B.I., judiciary is a separate entity and independent of executive. Legislature, judiciary and executive are three independent pillars of our constitutional system. Even media is sometimes named as Fourth estate.

However, government wants to have a say in appointment of judges and thereby control them to some extent. Kapil Sibal, Union Law minister has stressed.

The very concept of democracy will lose its sanctity, if what Kapil says materializes.

Once there was a notion of 'committed judiciary'. Apparently, that is being revived. In fact, judiciary is the only authority that has independence. As regards legislature, ruling party must have majority there or be able to manage. Thus executive and legislature are same.
Judiciary is the only organ in the institution of democracy ( barring a few cases ) which hasn't come under the influence of this country's legislation. People, especially intelligentsia should see that Judiciary should not have any link with the other organs of democracy.
