I hope you have already planned about your future program, incase you are still at planning stage I would suggest your home state is best for spending quality time in this hot weather. take your friends to beauty that Mother Nature offers in your home state. My favorite is nainital where I have visited 100s of times. I never felt as if I was visiting there again despite being there so many number of times. Horses, boats, lovely walk through the hills is some thing out of this world for me.

Alternately
You can come to stay with us in Sydney from next week onwards where the winter is at its peak.

We had Nainital in our mind before but we too have been there a number of times though not any where near to your record of 100. Last year we explored Almora and had a wonderful time there really. If you have been to the cave temple called "Patal Bhuvneshwar" in Pithoragarh you would know how much those big mountains there have to make us feel like really awesome!!
Though I might think on the Sydney wala option. ;) We will only come by the next month by the time you will be well settled. :cheer:

This is already in the range of 11-16 here these days, next month may be even colder. so get going now to take full advantage.
I would suggest you to go to a hill station when there is extreme heat in North India.Kullu Manali is the best place you may go to escape heat.

She did go to a movie in a mall- wholly AC and saved lots of monies.

hehehe...even she don't need to see movie just roam in a mall as all malls are air conditioned that way she will save money of tickets also.
Malls and ACs :P One of my friend has just watched Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and is so wanting to go the place so we have planned it to be Manali this time. What say about the choice?

J & K C.M. says that the scenery in the movie is not from Manali but from Kashmir. so, nobody whould visit Manali just because of movie.

Gulshan Ji rightly said sceneries in film were from Kashmir not from manali. So better visit Kashmir if you would like to see those sceneries otherwise Manali is also a good choice. :)

II would still prefer ranikhet and Almorah to Manali to save lot of monies again.

I already mentioned this to her after reading this in a newspaper some days back. But this is one place we all have agreed upon now. However Ranikhet too is on our wish list if we have ample time. So excited I am!

Yes Ranikhet is on our wish list though we had been to Almora last year, you know I belong to the place. I have heard Kasauni (near Ranikhet) is a good place to visit. So if time allows we might be going there as well. :cheer:

I think we should stop suggesting hills to Ashi, we need her healthy and kicking in place of stuck up somewhere on the way. ;)

Yeah we have been lucky enough. The pictures of the floods and the aftermath caused is so painful to look at. I can't imagine what the people stuck out there and those who lost their loved ones and their belongings might be feeling like.

Journey to hills will always be fine. Only avoid going in winter and rain.

Yes its always risky to visit hillstations in rainy season. I have realised it when I recently visited Neelkanth - Rishikesh on 16th June.

Hills in winters are almost heavenly if you have love for natural beauty and snow clad surroundings. It used to be my favorite hobby. I love walking, sliding, skateboarding and staying in tents wherever it snowed. In fact we waited eagerly for snowfall every winter.

There is an ideal season for visiting the places of interest. This is the reason why Tourism departments lay stress on the clause, "Ideal time to visit " for our own safety.

@bigbro- Natural calamities do not read government brochures before visiting any place of tourists' interests. They visit randomly at their own wish taking innocent into their grip. June is supposed to be ideal time for visiting hills but if monsoon arrived 15-20 days too early was nobody's fault. Jab jab jo jo hona hai so so tab tab hota hai. By the way winters are supposed to be the most visited season in hills.

Agreed, 'Natural calamities do not read government brochures.' Then the visitors are supposed to take more care. Believers in god foolishly believe that they should visit places of interest including Pilgrim centers on a particular auspicious day . They don' care about rain or shine. Ultimately they suffer.
On Vaikunth Ekadasi Tirupatti 4 years ago 140 people died in a stampede. If these superstitious beliefs that Gods should be visited on a particular day people continue to die. God also cannot help them.
God (if at all there is one) is present everywhere and can be visited all along the year. He will not go on a vacation.
Devotees are supposed to exercise caution and rationale.
Now in Chardham tragedy, CAG has warned the government 3 years ago building too many hydro electricity projects on Ganga will be disastrous. Now we witnessed the worst tragedy of the century as per Vijay Bahuguna, CM, Uttarakhand.

Do you know that Tehri Dam the biggest danger for the area esp in seismic conditions in our area if damaged will submerge our house within 4 hours. We shall be under 40 feet of water including Delhi, parts of Punjab, Hariyana and surrounding areas. There will be no buildings remaining in the area if it ever happened.

I know. I have all the reports on all the dams published by 'Hindu.' Hindu says, that the so called 'Natural calamities' are not natural calamities. They are the calamities created by man.

You got my point bigbro- if ever it has to happen we cannot stop it because we pre planned it that way. It was not God who created That damned dam but we did it. Now why should we blame natural calamities while they aren't so natural. When we cut down trees, blasted mountains we should have known its outcome.
