There is a good news. In case of urgent need, gas cylinder will be available at petrol pump. This will be at full price. Even if you have no gas connection, you'll get a cylinder from petrol pump.

I remember my economics lecturer teaching us about commodity and price. She gave an example which I have never forgotten - When a man is very tired and is achin to have acup of coffee and there is only one cup available with 3 or 4 others all wanting the same he is ready to pay whatevr price is being demanded whtehr it is valid or not...When a second cup is offered for the same price, he will think twice and for the third cup, he would start baargaining ! It is all a matter of need ,demand and supply ! so also with LPG cylinders..
In Bangalore there are few companies which supply cylinders at about 700/ as much II can remember until last year. That is privately owned service which might have gone up according to market price now, but they supply gas within 30 minutes after they receive the call.

This is law of diminishing marginal units. successive units of consumption give lesser utility. You buy till utility of next unit is less than price.
