Marches were held earlier too protect the sanctity of Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati and other rivers. we know how to toss coconuts into the rivers and pollute them. We do not know how to remove the silt from these rivers.
All the rivers in India are extremely polluted and unfit for any purposes, we actually need to change our mindset about water bodies and be more aware of how we can keep them clean. Such a march is welcome and hopefully it will make people aware of this critical issue.

Haryana is not releasing enough water and so there is acute shortage of water in rivers especially 'Hathini Kund' Now a settlement is expected.

It is very sad that few of the rivers are being polluted by people's religious rituals. No one in our country can find a solution for this issue.

Pollution is for a variety of reasons. We need to use electric crematorium instead of using wood. Secondly, the industrial waste also pollutes rivers. This also needs be checked.

After Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, thousands of Ganesh Idols are being disposed in water bodies like sea ever year.

Ganesh chaturthi is one reason, but that is only seasonal. The actual quantities of things floated in rivers around the year is much much more in percentage than Ganesh idols!

Like Ganesh Chaturthi, Kumbha Mela also plays a vital role in the water bodies being polluted. We need to keep our water resources from being polluted.
I hope Ganesh idols are made of clay. Is it?
If so will that add on to pollution.

Now many NGOs are stressing on importance of buying only the clay idols, but many people still prefer to buy the plast of paris ones because they are cheaper than clay idols. Even the artisans who make these idols mostly prefer plaster of Paris as they find it economical, clay idols do not give them desired returns over their investment.
May be the people who wants to prefer rivers from pollution should go for clay idols.

Clay is not a problem. But those idols are painted with artificial colours which contain chemicals which are not good.
This is a nice movement. The Ganga is our nearby and it is also polluted and need such movement.
