Usha, actually China has many religions, Buddhism being one of the most popular religions. Shenism", Taoism and Buddhism are the chief religions in China with respectively 30% of following for each religion.

But irrespective of any kind of religion, China values its heritage and cares for its treasures in at least hundred times better manner than India!

But then can we blame them for that, our leaders turn a blind eye to their and keep extending friendships to them! Anyone will take advantage of a weak spine! But jokes apart, China has really taken a giant leap and achieved what no others have achieved in many sectors. Pick up any good quality attractive book and you will notice it has been printed in China! :woohoo:

We dont have the courage to control a irritant country like Pakistan so China is totally out of the question... Our diplomatic efforts and the kind of signals we send out are pathetic to say the least ! I wonder whether it is our upbringing or slave mentality that is to blame ...

Irrespective of the "Isms", China has a hunger to own a distinction. Goodest, longest, shortest ... the list goes on. And it goes all out to grab a distinction. Of course, this hunger paid them rich dividends many a time. China is the only country this year to have achieved the highest Industrial growth when the entire world is reeling under economic crisis.

Certainly Ushaji, it looks great and peaceful. How lucky the people there might be to be in the vicinity of such a place!
That's right Abhijitji :) , however it is a pity that a place like srilanka which has a majority population of peace loving Buddhists had to undergo so much of ethnic violence in the past...

True! And we cannot also forget what the Talibanis did to the magnificent giant Buddha statues in Bamiyan, Afghanistan! Ancient treasures of those statues are now lost forever because of fanaticism of a particular group of people!

Of course Kalyani, what a wicked thing to do , all in the name of religion. If you have respect and love for your religion you should have the same feelings for other peoples religion as well...People are blind and get easily manipulated with religion - opium of the masses indeed!

I fail to understand how these people find pleasure in destruction. And that too of such ancient valuable statues, no way...
