Hello friends,

On today's front page in Times of India there is a news about ragging in an ITI (Industrial Training Institute).

1. First fresher has been tortured for many days

2. Then 200 rupees were demanded as self imposed fine by seniors

3. Than the fresher was ordered to remove clothes and turn nude

4. Finally when the fresher refused for stripping he was beaten with metal rods, injuring his private orgons

5. FIR has been filed and the fresher is in a hospital

I am severely shocked by reading this news and sharing with you all and the visitors to this site and convey message that please do not say a single word in support of ragging. Ragging of any type should be stopped forthwith.

I agree with Jharia. Ragging in any form is undesirable. This is nothing but mindless torture of the juniors. Instead of Ragging, there should be a get together or some sort of tea party for introduction in presence of college staff and proctors.
Absolutely Agreed,

Ragging should not be there at any cost, it is not only the mental torture to the freshers but the physical torture too.

Freshers are committing suicides out of traumas of ragging, it is loosing its limits.

One should be friends though simple introduction and there should be live and let live.
Yes... I too agree.

Ragging is banned, but we still see this again and again...

The actual intention of ragging is to promote friendly relationship between seniors and juniors. Healthy way of ragging is found no where. So it has been banned. Hope this never happen again and again.
I too accept ragging is banned but it still happens why? It is because there are no strong rules against ragging cases however they will be given some fine or 3 months that's all so people either pay money and then come out and do the same If the punishment is sever then people will be afraid of doing Ragging
Devigan- you are absolutely right. strong punishment is must. The ragging culprits must be rusticated at least for five years and also jailed. If ragging results in serious injury or death, action under Indian Penal code need be resorted to in addition.
it should be banned strictly every where!!!!!!!!!
Ragging is a very serious issue. So many students have committed suicide due to it.

I just buy the opinions of Deivigan and Gulshan.
ragging is still there after prohibiting it also it had happen we can see daily in newspapers about it i dont know why it happen

Harish bhai, :)
Where were you?.Busy with life?Hope you will be active hereafter.Good to see you back. :)
I read you article in blog. Its very true. The codes for freshers you mentioned is practiced in almost all the colleges..i think..
Good one.
Thanks 'gulshan kumar ajmani' for responding to this thread that I posted 7 months back and there was no taker...

This crucial issue needed someone like you to support the cause of the freshers on whom criminal activities are imposed on the name of ragging...
Thanks MC, for noticing my absence from this site... right now I am working on my blog on full time... nonetheless, I will be back soon...

Take care...
well, I am in favor of ragging.but, not in the way college students are doing with their juniors.I never forget my ragging in my college life.I learned so many things and made new friends (of course seniors). They were always ready to help in every matter(from studies to love life :) ).

Ragging should be informative and fill the gap between juniors & seniors. :)
I am not in favor of complete ban. There is no harm in informative ragging. :)
Hello Bhanu,

The options that you have suggested are quite good for the law books that are consulted at the time of awarding punishments to the culprits. Yes options are always there in an intellectual society.

I think, when we are discussing an issue on internet, it would be better to be crystal clear whether you are for a complete ban or else supporting RAGGING...?
Thank you harish. I searched for threads that had no response. Some of my threads also have got nil response. I considered that the issue raised by you is very burning and this should not go unnoticed. I heartily welcome your positive and enlightened approach to real national issues.
Dear Harish!

I have read some of your posts. They are very informative.
Please try to be active as much as possible.

Thanks.
