Same principle can not be adopted everywhere. Actually nothing is right or wrong by itself. Thinking makes it so. There is a proverb- while in Rome do as the Romans do.

We may feel that we are right irrespective of what others think. This is okay for what you eat. But when it comes to garments, you must wear what others like to see. For your personal activities in free time, what you think is right. But when in office or shop, what the rules say or customers want is right.
Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains. If you follow only what you feel okay, you will be in a mess- considered unsocial, unethical, undisciplined and what not.
