Some Hindu fanatic groups are protesting against paintings in an art gallery. The paintings are nude but art and not vulgar.

I wonder why these groups not protest against the nude art in Konark, ajanta, Elora and Khajuraho.

Fanaticism and Hypocrisy.. You know well what if these two qualities combine. If they have guts, let them stop the vulgar dances of Bollywood, tollywood, Kollywood and all sorts of woods
Actually this type of protest can make some group or group of people to get publicity.
In another incident, some organizations forcibly removed some paintings in Bangalore although the author of those paintings says that he has expressed only that he read in literature of classic ancient writers like Kumar Sambhav.

This artist Sainath is a sure psycho and he has no business talking about beautiful works like Kumar sambhava. What he has show in his paintings are akin to pornography and the figures are more like people from pornographic movies. If we talk about the intimate postures etc. that can be seen at temples like Khajuraho, they are beautiful and graceful and not in the least bit vulgar and suggestive like this artist has portrayed in the paintings.

I am a fan of nude paintings but only when they are depicted with as much beauty and grace as a human body, especially a woman's, is! Depicting that nudeness in a crude and vulgar form is not art but cheap publicity!
I feel that it is a kind of backlash to show that they too are concerned like other religious groups do...so anything to do with religion, they protest...

In India, religion is what attracts the most publicity and attention! So it is manipulated as per the wishes of whoever is in the charge at any given time!

I agree, when we look at nude paintings done by some older painters, we can only admire them.So it really depends on the psychological bent of the artist since thats what comes out in his or her paintings...

More than any thing else, its the innate desire in humans to make others know about their presence makes them resort to such heinous deeds. "Somehow hog the limelight" is the Mantra for them.
Nothing but to remain in focus. These are elephant teeth, to eat one, to show other. A foreigner once stunned to see first time the "Shivling", astonished to see sexual pose that too with worshiping by millions of people since millions of years!!!

I agree, have often heard foreigners questioning why this is being done ? I too dont know why this is done and for a believer it is definitely not sexual but a symbol to be worshiped...
Nude paintings or photographs are not for public places. Those who can read the paintings or under stand the meaning should open to them. But many want just publicity. nothing else.
B) Average Hindus is believe in live and let live. They always concerned with their own business. Some person is exception. Roots of Hindus religion is too much deep, these minor thing never hurt it.

Our culture don't permit any sex pose or anything like that openly.
art in nudity and lust/sex must not be mixed. the biological parts must not be given substandard definitions. the gap must be erased. we like our own body odor, do any one admits or likes it, our approach is to be set right so that we can communicate freely and frankly. i came across a case where none want to sit beside a girl because of her sweat odor, such unsocial activities can be normalized. a girl hesitated to tell me her diarrhea problem and lost control in class room.
it had put me in a very embarrassing condition. please give your valuable comment.

I hav seen some modern paintings which are hideous , with naked bodies and color red dominating the scene and generally leaving you with a sic feeling, but some others consider it a great creation, it all depends on the taste of the individuals concerned I guess !

You are right in this case, but still now in our culture we hesitate to see such pictures openly.
there are so many social suppression s prevailing in society. we must erase it . too much hideous subject gives newtons third law effect. when a student is taught about reproduction in 6th standard, where is the problem in making it very explicit to avoid curiosity in youth. this will neutralize the lustful thirst.
such kind of artists will be thrown out from the country. It happened to a great artist. I dont remember his name.
