Today morning, Chief Minister Miss. J. Jayalalithaa had a meeting with chief secretaries in the secretariat. After thae meeting, she announced that government has no issues to release the film. Since Muslim league objected, government took that decision.
Film is film. We should not confuse real life and the film.

I think Vishwaroopam is released everywhere except Tamil Nadu..
so sad. he says, if this film flops his house and every property will go from his hands.....this movie was made from 95 crore
he is now thinking of leaving this country...why should 'Ulakanayakan' (world hero) stay here...says his elder brother Charuhasan..Mani ratnam's Father-in-law

His talk made chief minister of Tamilnadu Miss. J Jayalithaa think. She announced that ban is due to muslim league's objection.
We can expect soon the day of release of the film. :) :) :) :) :) :)
Kamal has even agreed to remove those scenes if muslims have objection. then what's the problem.,?
Kamal Hasan has agreed to remove the objectionable scenes from the movie. This may be pragmatic decision. However the entire controversy highlights flaw in our system. There is very little freedom of expression and artistic expression. What is the use of censor board if screening can be stopped despite censor board certificate? Any ethnic or cultural group can always create hurdles despite clearance by censor board.

Is this time when the film producers should consider avoiding all themes that have slightest link or reference to any community, region or culture. They should choose only themes of angels and fairies and traditional love triangle- lover, beloved and villain. These would be safe and free from objection from any quarter.

what a lovely post! :)

Democracy gives freedom of expressing ideas. So, Kamal Hassan can't be blamed even if he has told something bad about a particular community, pointing their mistakes. why God and religious should be excluded from such talks when we tell a lot of bad words about our politicians through forum? ;) ;)  . If our dearest politicians see our lovely posts ;) , they will ban our forum forever :silly: :woohoo:
then why should religious groups express their oppositions against a film. Good or evil - films can surely give a lot of messages to the society if we use it in a good way. Now I remember movies like Roja and Mein hoon na. But no one opposed that time. Good messages can be given only if wrong things are shown in a proper way....(tell the truth)  Then only common man opens his eyes

let me add a note on last year's movie "Oh My God", I am sure, most of our members have seen that movie. the movie clearly criticizes Hindu Saints, idol worships and offering taken in the name of God. Even Paresh Rawal says a lot of bad things about God. Why no one opposed that time?

So, it's to target a particular person who can be considered to the asset of Indian Cinema, an unparellel hero whom we call perfectionalist :)
Hindi version 'Vishwaroop' hasbeen today released in U.P. including Agra amidst protest by some groups.

Even I think films are films but one must think about the emotions and feelings of public too sometime the scenes in the film may agitate people.

let me watch the movie once to find if Muslims are right
his last movie 'Dasavatharam' also created a lot of fuss among Hindus..a movie telling the story of Siva followers and Vishnu followers. Now I can't remember those scenes, but they were removed later.

This is not so much a question of right or wrong. There is nothing that everyone will feel right. Feeling right or wrong is no genuine cause for stopping screening of a movie. Freedom of expression and art can be maintained only if you tolerate even that which you consider wrong. Once a movie has been issue certificate by Censor Board, it is unjust, arbitrary and whimsical to stop screening of a movie.

I agree that is why censor board is there who decides what is to be banned and what not.
