I have noticed few photos on facebook, asking for likes. I mean they put some emotional photos or some heroes photo.. and then mentioned statement like.. 1 like equals to 1 salute,,
What they get from those likes?!

More likes means more popularity. It was alleged long ago that the majority of "Likes" are fake likes. I term it as a craze.

Facebook culture is often fake and pretentious.I have a relative who was telling me that another cousin of hers ( a friend on FB) who keeps liking her status and commenting on her profile on FB totally ignores her in real life !
Once my friend has asked me to vote on his photo. That was understandable because it was a contest. But as you said, there are many such messages going around that ask us to vote. I really don't know what they earn by doing this. It's a pure waste of time.
Facebook is a glorified fake. Many members or should i say majority do not know what they are doing in Facebook. Its a glaring example for " Herd Mentality."

You are right, Rambabuji. I have seen parents - frustrated parents, trying hard to dissuade their children from FB. They get so used to it that they become addicted to it. But Mr. Mark is making huge bucks there. But at the same time, it is no use blaming FB. It's their business and they will do it. It is up to us how much importance we should give it.
Surely it is weird.. Yes many youngsters are still crazy about it, but yes it is just like waste of time if someone is giving time to fb more than needed.
I am a member of a couple of groups on FB where the links of articles are promoted. I use FB for only that purpose. Otherwise, at times, I even forget that there is something called Facebook.

Yes for limited use and as long as you are aware what you are doing FB Chalega
Even I have also seen such things and I also think sometime if they earn from it. There would be anything they get benefits from more "likes" may be we don't know about it.
Yes that's what I think too SJ.. There should be some benefit for them, but yes we don't know about it.. Promoting for likes just for reputation is sounds weird.

That's right we earn through 'likes' as well and I know it for sure. There is no activity that doe not pay on internet, you should only know the right ways.
@abhi.. Well, as you are promoting your articles, surely it is not like wasting time.. I was talking about youngsters who spend whole time on FB, just for chit chat.
Well, I got your point Anand. I know even you need to use the social networking sites like Twitter for making articles viral. I have seen your tweets, but I am not sure about your FB use.
You mean they just do it for craze... Not for any profit or benefit?! That's really weird.
It's not so, there are several campaigns running on different websites where the most popular articles, photos extra get big prizes therefore they need to share there links and ask for 'like' every vote counts. They even offer cents to do the job.
