Same to all my friends, tomorrow is first day at Kumbh bath when more than 11 million people will take 1st bath on 1st day itself of BIG BATH the Shahi Snan.

Here in my place people throng in lakhs at all the sea beaches to take 'Mangal Snan..

Happy pongal and Makarsankranti to all. Makarsankranti is famous here. We take bath in the early morning and take pitha(cake make of rice dust).

Thanks a lot Mary ! Hope you too enjoy your holiday .....In Mangalore we don't celebrate Makara Snakranti on a grand scale except people go and have a dip in the sea , however it is good to have a holiday... :) Happy Sankranti to all the members..

These 11 million people will take bath at sangam the bank og Ganga i Allahabad tomorrow in one day only. If you count the total number all over the country it would be more than 200 million in different places/banks of different rivers.

I am happy to see that it is allowed to celebrate the days here with other members. Belated happy Makar Sakranti and Pongal to all members. Can anybody give me brief introduction of the Pongal? I think it will be beneficial for others who don't know too, so that instead of going to wiki we can have the information here itself.
