Indian village bans mobile phone use by women

A village council in Bihar banned use of cell phones by women as they are thought are responsible for elopements.

It is too bad. Why it is banned for women alone? Are we living in 21st Century? Is it independant India? Politicians are kindly requested to look into this issue.

This is one type of dominating. Use in right way is another thing but banned and specially to women is not correct.

Many villages especially those remote from cities are woman unfriendly. They want to confine women to home. Also, it appears that the village is Muslim dominated. They do not want more freedom to their women.

Haven't you heard about Fatwas issued by different Panchayats in this particular area. These Fatwas come from both communities here who are in majority. The fines for breaking rules are to sever like Rs 1 lackh or out of community.

Why don't they lock up the girls instead! :huh: That will be the safest option.

The legendary character Seeta (Ramayana) also could be kidnapped because she crossed the line (Laxaman Rekha). Women should not cross their home boundary and they are safe. That is what villagers believe.
