Distance intensifies love whereas too much nearness is repulsive. That is why there are so many poems and songs on separation. In Hindi poetry, this is called ''viraha' . There are more poems and songs on 'virah vedna' (pain of separation'. Some one has remarked- 'Virahi ho ga pahla kavi'. (The first poet would have been separated from beloved) I remember the song- Do hanso ka joda bichhad gaya re- Gajab hua Ram gaab hua re.
