No wonder. Religious frenzy makes the people dumb and lose rationality.
This is a sad news and people should be more aware during celebration.
Of course that should be so, but people get carried away and don't take the most minor precautions that are needed, instead they get so excited that they become the cause of the stampede..

You don't know who to blame, the indisciplined public or the lax administration ? apparently this happens frequently when they have such melas on the banks of ganges and no one seems to take any measures that can put an end to it ...
We can't blame the public since the people wont change their way. That's why we have law to force us to live a civilized life. As per my view, its lack of administration alone.

Of course making right noises at the right occasion is the art our Leaders learned from their cradle days.
It happens in Mecca too when they have haj pilgrimage, sometimes it is so bad that a few hundreds die and many more get seriously injured...I know of a person whose legs were totally crushed when he went there but it seems they are given a lot of care and he was given insurance too...
