I heard him years ago live in Tata. The congregation consisted of not just Malayalis, entire India was there. He sang in 8 languages sending all in to raptures and waves of ecstasy. When it comes to Melody none can beat Yesudas, the Monarch of melody.

He belonged to a poor family when he started play back singing his father used to stand outside theatres to hear his son's song. He didn't even have money to buy a ticket to go inside theatre...... I read it in an interview.
Yesudas means......servant of 'Yesu'. Jesus is called 'Yeshu' in Malayalam....
But I have always noticed his name pronounced in a wrong way, by North Indian TV Channels
where is ceemji?
He is a great fan of Yesudas and Ka karoom Sajni.....
Not bigger than me
Jab Sanjh dhale aana, Jab deep jale jaana.
When I heard this one for the first time, I could not help myself but repeat it 5-6 times in a row. For me Yesu started from here.
Yes under the baton of the blind Maestro Ravindra Jain
Ravindra Jain's beautiful composition, (lyrics also written by him) is my most favourite Hindi song...

He is my favourite singer. No one has the voice like him. Scintillating talents. I like his tamil song 'Kanne Kalaimane' From the famous movie 'Moondram Priai' Dircted by Balu Mahendra, Kamal Hassan starer movie. National Award winner.
i have given the song link. have you seen it?
Yesudas is of course one of the greatest singers today. There are so many songs of his that come to our minds .I remember reading a report many years back when he was not very comfortable singing Hindi songs because of his diction, most malayali people/singers are unable to pronounce certain words , also have a strong accent. But Yesudas is supposed to have worked on this until he got it right and went on to sing some very beautiful songs..Some of my own favorites are Janeman jaaneman with Asha Bhonsle,Jab deep jhale aana with Vani jayram,Aye mere udaas man,O goriya re...
we have discussed a lot of positive sides of his career, yet he has one black mark....
years before he demanded royalty if any stage singer performs his song in any concert. The time he demanded this, I think more than 85% songs of Malayalam (male voice) belonged to him and no ganamela is complete without his songs. When such an admirable person who was so successful demanded this, it drew a lot of oppositions from everywhere.....
Yesudas has acted in a few movie songs as well....
let me provide one link

Usha kumari was a beautiful heroine, I think she was murdered in her younger age
let me tell you, Malayalam movies were black and white even during 70's and early 80's except a few exceptions.

You can add a collection of his songs of 80's and 90's.
Am sure 60's and 70's are golden eras of Malayalam.
Yet I like 80's and 90's, particularly 80's.
enjoy this Sandhya song, it's my most favourite malayalam song :P

am sure, the person who has sung Maximum songs with word 'Sandhya' is none other than yesudas :cheer: :cheer:
truth is that no Malayalam singer or lyricist can keep distance from the words 'Sandhya' and 'Kannan' :woohoo: :woohoo:
There have been quite a few controversies surrounding him from what I have read, once he was not allowed to sing inside a temple, possible Guruvayur because he was a christian...I think the controversy still goes on..
yes, i have quoted in one of my posts...
he tried to enter guruvayur temple 2-3 times, but not allowed till now.
But maximum Hindu devotional songs are sung by this singer
enjoy this number....it's dedicated to Guruvayoorappan
"Oru neramenkilum kaanathe +Yesudas "

I was surprised to read a comment on his singing-'God wanted to sing himself so Yesu sang"
A lovely comment. :)
Am not surprised.....
Keralites consider him as a gandarv born on earth.....
so he is given the title, 'Gaana gandarv'.

This is Sridevi, although she looks like ragini in old Rajkapoor movie.
Sri Devi Ok, but there is no resemblance with Ragini of Lalita , Padmni, Ragini sisters. It's Sridevi before her plastic surgery on her Nose ( They say it's nose job)

Now let me give you link of a breathless song which gave a National award to Yesudas. Mohanlal also won his first award through this movie.

Are you mentioning album breathless? it's released in 1998.
If so, no.
This movie was released in the year 1991. Surprisingly, a strange co-incidence........
S.P. sang his best song of his career in the same year for the movie Keledi Kanmani....it was also a breathless song
In the final round of National awards, S.P. lost to Yesudas, because he lost by just a few seconds
yet I feel, both could have been awarded together...
years before I watched a concert live of SPB and how beautifully he performed that song.....in every concert he sings, he can't avoid this song.
do you want song link? Some days before I started a thread on breathless....
