What's your limit?

"Humanly impossible" is the oft heard statement in our social circles.. I wonder at such statements. All the present achievements were once considered as " Humanly impossible." When the Wright brothers announced that they invented planes that fly like birds in the air, people not heckled them but also said "Humanly impossible."
When Legendary pole-vaulter Sergei Bubka cleared 6.02 meters, it looked as if he made a mockery of Frank Foss's the then world record in pole vault that was described as " Epoch making."

There are many incidents like this which proved time and again that there are no human limitations. Our limitations are self imposed basing on a temporary existing conditions.

The limitations depend on state of technology and individual capability. This is also a matter of relativity. There is some limitation for every one. Only this differs from man to man, place to place and time to time. An individual can also raise his limitation through efforts.
Yes, irrespective of the technological help, a man can raise his limitations. Many of the earlier achievements were possible when technology was in a nascent stage.

@Rambabu- Bigbro, I have always felt that we were not unknown to technologies in ancient times as we are made to believe. You know we knew about planes, helicopters, life saving drugs in Treta Yuga and Doordarshan etc in Dwapar. I think whatever we used to hear/see in movies a few decades back in religious movies are coming true today. Like they could watch some thing happening at the click of a finger on any surface in front we can see live shows taking place any where in the world at a push of button on remote. There are so many examples.
We cant define limit in general. Because it varies from person to person.

True, but the limits of humans as they are visible to the eye are not the real limits. They can be raised in accordance with the necessity, A cat, if driven to the wall will fight like cub.

True munna. Yesterday's impossibilities are today's possibilities.
Science has made many things possible. Many people has tendency to laugh before knowing the facts.
I would say that intense will power and creativity can change anybody's life style. It can change the whole world. If man has a strong mind, nothing can stop him. He has no limitations.
yes it depends man to man and whatever is possible to a man ,may not be possible to another. causes are many-money,manpower,identity etc.

Its not about the individual abilities and limits. Its about HUMAN abilities in general
2 years back I got a mail...
So, I cant remember its full points...just try to quote whatever I can...

I think it's about world record of race...100m, or 200m
I can't remember...
There was a belief that no one can cross that distance (speed also I forget). It remained as record for years or centuries.
One day that record was broken.....breaking the myth.
But after that, many people crossed that record....
So, it was already set in mind that no one can reach that level. When someone crossed it, that myth is broken and more people try to attain it. So, those limitations are fixed by our mind itself. The day which it's broken we reach new heights
Can some one quote that incident clearly?
No matter how much we are able to achieve we still have some limitations, probably it is precisely because of that, people use terms such as humanly impossible... Once you decide to do something, if you have calculated and planned right, taking every single detail into consideration, you will be able to achieve your goal !
Human being has no limit. They have reached into the space, almost nearest to the moon. Humans have also reached under the earth. We can do anything.

It will be unrealistic to say that there is no limit. There are limits of finance, talent, time, space etc. But the limits are not fixed for all times. Planning and budgeting are necessary only because of limit. The entire economic problems are based on limit of resources. The space program also have some limits.

All human limits are manufactured In the brain. We created them and we are scared of those limitations created by us. Let me tell you an example. Americans were struggling to develop a ball point pen for their astronaut in accordance with the law of weightlessness in the space. At the same time, the Russians came up with an idea that left Americans stunned. Russians used a pencil instead of Ball point pen. Yes, where the Americans thought that there is nothing beyond ball pen, Russians seen beyond those lines and used a pencil. Now you tell me where the limits have gone for Americans and where the limits were seen for the Russians. The limits you are saying look at a glance they are insurmountable. But once impossibles also looked insurmountable and intimidating. Once running a mile under 4 minutes was considered as impossible. Sir Roger Bannister has proved nothing Is impossible and nothing is having limits.
In another post on Tsunami, members are discussing that man boasts too much but he is nothing before nature and is helpless. Here we are discussing that there is no limit.
The fact is that there is always some limit- small or big.

They are two different instances. The idea is to project man’s contradicting dual nature. The first one is man against nature. The other one is Man against himself. In both the cases man’s foolishness is mirrored. In both the cases man failed to estimate the strength of his opponent. in the former case man overestimated himself and cut a sorry figure before his stronger opponent. In the other case man underestimated himself and failed to act in tune with his inner potentialities.
Man is a bundle of contradictions. I reiterate. ‘Limits’ are myths.’

Limits are definitely real. You cannot ignore reality. These are not fixed and can change. But even after change, there remains some limit. Rightly said that man overestimated in some cases and underestimated in other. To say that there is no limit would be overestimation.

Beg to differ with you. Limits are our imagination. Had they are real, we would be still living in caves. Agreed, they change. They are the ever changing constants.
