Candle Lighting Ceremony

I am reading this first time. I didn't knew about such ceremonies. It must be very interesting.

We had farewell party in our college campus with lots of fun, dance and drama.

Robert, can you tell a few more words about candle lighting ceremony? What does it signifies?

Even i too never heard of such ceremony. May be it happens in American schools. :blink:

At The American College, Candle Lighting Ceremony is a farewell program for both Under Graduate and Post Graduate Students. All the Student will be wearing White (Light Colour) Shirt and Black (Dark Colour) pants women in saree mostly. There will be a formal session. Then All the lights will be turned off. Each one will be having candle. First candle w\lighted will be of principal's. Then he will light to the next one. It continues one by one. This function will be held at the prestigious Main Hall there.

My most memorable event in my life is 'Candle Lighting Ceremony" which is the final day of Under Graduation at The American College which is located at Madurai. This ceremony will be held every year at the very heritage building " Main Hall' in the Campus. I hope most of the people were not familiar with this event. Some of you may have seen this in films. How the person feels while attending the Candle Lighting Ceremony can not be explained in words. For every Alumni, This is unforgettable and most touching moment in life. Thanks to The American College. I wish this college serves the society till the world lasts.

What is the year of your pass out , I mean during which session were you there Robert? I am impressed the way you celebrated your ceremony.

This building was built in 1800s more than 130 years back. Most of the buildings in the Campus are red brick buildings but more than 100 years ago. It is a prestigious instituion.

I know his age because he said that he used to play marbles and Kabaddi in his childhood as there were no other games or activities. So I can guess his age. I am interested to know people from his batch, that is my hobby. :)
