I really don't believe this. Is it a fact? We should respect him. He is a good human being and a good politician.

He would have given particulars in his property returns. If these were wrong, opposition would not spare him. so, we have to believe that he has no car and his wealth is less than Rs. one crore. Moreover, we have never heard of corruption in Tripura as in other states. In fact, his bank balance is not even Rs. 10,000/- His wife moves in a Riksha without any security. .

It is an extremely rare phenomenon indeed...He will be the most respected by the people for being so honest and straight forward. There are very few,may be a handful of them who are able to be honest inspite of the corrupt practices surrounding them...

I remember such Chief Minister- Comrade Ram Kishan, Punjab in 1965. One day, noted journalist Khushwant singh found him standing in queue at a bus stop. Khushwant singh recoognized him and gave him a lift. Comrade Ram Kishan had no car nor he could afford taxi charges. In this connection, I may also refer to ex C.M. Bhuddha Deva Bhattacharya of West Bengal. His wife. a corporate employee and daughter, a student always traveled by city bus unlike children of other politicians. apparently, Bhattacharya had no car for his family.

We have an MLA called Yogesh Bhat here, now a minister who is also the same, has no car and goes about in autos or his two wheeler which is also an old one ... His family too is totally unassuming and have absolutely no airs and pretences like most politicians and their families have..

This is also a lesson. We should not treat all politicians alike. we need to prefer honest and simple living politicians more.

Frankly it is very few people who think along those lines that the simpler the politician the better example he is setting. The majority of the people feel that there is something wrong with these politicians since they have no car and the usual trappings of power.I have heard people say that 'may be he is not respected and has no power thats why he has no car...little do they know that a car is provided for using when they attend their duties which is in the capital city Bangalore, whereas at his home constituency he manages as before...
The great salutes for him. He should keep maintain this for always.
This is unbelievable and if you are honest then it may be but most are doing and earning in cross way.
Most of the politicians are earning in the dishonest way only.

Mr Basu did not leave anything to Mr. Battacharya to use.

The main reason is that the Tripura C.M. belongs neither to congress nor BJP, the main parties. Hence he differs from their culture.

The budget of a state government did not end with relinquishment of power by Jyoti Basu. Bhattacharya was in fact, also paying all his salary to his party and receiving only some pocket money from his party just as Tripura C.M. does. If he were a Congress or BJP C.M., he and his family would all travel by imported cars and be always escorted by security guards.

I agree, there are many such leaders among the Communist party more so among Marxists who think differently to that of a normal politician whose sole interest is to further his/her own career and personal assets..
This is quiet impossible to imagine that a CM moves without a car.
Yes I also don't believe this. He gets enough salary to afford a car and buy a house.

Manik Sarkar is the C.M. of Tripura. Other politicians cannot live like him even for a day.
