Ganesha Chaturthi is very significant for entire writing community and editors. Ganesha was the first short hand writer. He wrote Mahabharata very fast. He told Ved Vyas that he would stopped writing as soon as he stopped dictating.

I wish all of you a very happy Ganesh Chaturathi. Yes people are turning to statues made of easily diluted material and lesser harmful colors.

The idols of Ganesha are being largely made of POP that is cheaper than clay but is non bio-degradable and thus has lead to heavy pollution of the waters. An annual report published by the Pollution Control Board showed that the level of iron and other toxic materials have caused a decrease in the dissolved oxygen in the waters. This poses a major threat to the aquatic life too.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in Kolkata also. People love this festival. Today Vishwakarma puja ended. We all are in happy and joyous mood. Now the festive season is on. Happy Puja.

Yes, ganesha is worshipped for 10 days and immersed in sea. It's a great celebration all over India. Surprisingly we celebrated last month :blink:

Even in my region it is not celebrated like it is in Maharashtra.They people celebrate with great zeal I have been there for 4 years and I have seen people how much they are crazy for this festival to come.

We must use clay idols and should avoid using idols with chemical paints to protect the water bodies and keep them safe.

Its better to use the images made of wood or of plaster paris.The wood images can be used.Beside my house they made the image with fiber.
