I do not know. But 'Thanda' means that this is some cold drink. This may be some sort of beer.

This is indeed a cool beverages in South India. see the link. This is sold by way side vendors.

If this was Jigar Thanda, this could mean Cool heart as Jigar means Heart and thanda is cool. Or is it cold heart? You should be little more descriptive with this. Besides Madurai where else do you get it?

morning only in TV news I saw about Jigarthanda. In madurai it is so famous. Madurai people used to pack it and send it to the relations house also when they are coming there. That much everyone likes it. :)

Actually this looks like Ice cream or milk shake with frozen milk balls, we call them Kulfi or Rubri. That sure is very popular drink in certain parts of our areas also.
