Some days before, we talked about chutnies. But we all know, we can't make a chutney without chilli :S :S :S

Why can't we today discuss about different types of chillies
Just check this link....

I have posted some interesting things about Kerala's Kaanthari. Though it's tiny as pepper, he can do a lot of mischeives with your tongue, if you try to play with him

why can't we spare a few moments for this lovely spice :cheer: :cheer:

I am not able to attach files now. That's why I provided a link to Kanthari

If we need to eat some spicy chutney then we just need chili for that. But we can use black pepper, oregano, chili flakes to add some more taste and in our chutney.
Yet let us talk about some types of chilies, though we can't post their images right now
I know only about red chillies and green chillies. These are used to make sauce or chutney. Tomato is also a good ingredient in various sauces along with chillies.
We used to have curd chillies...
We put them in curd and salt and then dry it in sunlight. Do it repeatedly for some days. You can preserve it for long use.
Just fry in oil and keep it in an air tight container.

I only buy instant dried chillies, which can really add a lot of flavours to your boiled rice.
Chutney without chilly will be like ice cream without the cherry :woohoo: Well has anyone had 'bhang' ki chutney? Its very popular in Uttrakhand and I recently had it. Tastes really good ;)
I want a special chilli known as Sambhar Chilli (Thondan Mulak..Mulak means Chilli) to make my Sambaar and chicken, mutton etc. This chilli is light green in colour and it's not spicy according to its size....i.e. It has less chilly taste...so I use them in sambar and chicken to give more flavors and my finishing touch.
Can't attach images now.....so searched from google to get this article link.... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

This chilli is not found even in Kottayam or Thrissur. Found only in TVM district, and Tamil Nadu
So, each time when I go home, I come back with a bundle so that I can use them at least for a month

Have you heard of infinity chilly that was produced in UK by accident, that chilly has broken all world records and just one or two chilies are enough to feed whole of your locality.

I read it some time back. It was produced in England by some farmer through breeding and holds the record for being the hottest chilly. :P And do you know chilly has no taste it only produces a burning sensation on your tongue. :P

That farmer would give it to her by pleasure because he wants to get rid of it.
There is no need of chilies to make chutneys. We can also have some garam masala and pepper to make it spicy.
Oh!!
This chilli talk is already buried

I once heard in Master chef India about a Chilli in Eastern states..I think Assam, which has 150-200 times intensity than normal chilli.
If we make chutney with green chilli it is so tasty. :P . if we put other garam masalas the taste will not come. :S :S
