Yesterday I chanced upon an interesting piece of information. India may end up winning not more than 5 Olympic medals - hopefully one more from wrestling and the country has nearly spent Rs. 250 crore on training and other facilities. Thus it works out to Rs. 50 crore for each medal!!! :cheer: ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

As expected, and if you shall add the money showered on those medal winners would make it 55 crore a piece. This is so shameful for a country of 1.4 billion. Even they have gone mad for those 4+1 like real big achievement, looks like we have topped the table.

Every successful sporting nation lays greater importance in building up the right system which spots, promotes talent to produce winners at the highest level with striking regularity- for instance China. Here President, PM, Opposition leaders all rush to congratulate every time a medal comes to make it look like their running out of regular business! Our well-built political system has been producing thugs, hooligans of all variety but sporting system has produced this much!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
This is very bad when we spent that much money for training we have got just 5 medals. This is better not to participate in Olympics.
It is clear that the money is not being spend rightfully. With the disheartening performances of our sportsmen at the London Olympics it exposes the poor state of sports in the country.

Unless they will kick every politician from sports bodies and let the honest sports persons take charge of sports affairs with no favor to big wigs and interference from any one in any case and proper training by Indian coaches, nothing is going to change. As I had predicted much earlier than more than five would be a miraculous figure and China would be right on top or there about. We shall have to keep media in check who creates such a hype and expectations that is so ridiculous. Just to attract revenue they can go down to any extent despite knowing the ground realities.
I know by my own example when I was sidelined from the all varsity national team of badminton for a brother of a big player in early 80s.
Corruption is the main reason for this if we had controlled corruption we will get good sportsmen to outside.

This is what the scenario is! Every time we are beaten, battered and bruised at these events - a bout of chest-thumping and thereafter things are back as usual!
Politicians are the main culprit in our downfall of every walk of life. Unless we shall not show them their proper place we have no right to make any complaints whatsoever.
In fact, cost is more when output is less. This is true everywhere. Even if you do not win a single medal, the total expenses will be same. We need to work out proper plan for training of prospective sportsmen and execute this. Possibly, we may make a remarkable improvement in a decade.
We start with same expectations every time and end up with same results every time. A few personal efforts like Saina, Narang, are keeping us there in the list otherwise we are not worth a dime unless present management of sports bodies is not changed all together.

For the last few decades we have been hoping and hoping which is nearly turning out to be hoping against hope! When cost turns into waste - lining the pockets of our sports administrators - the nation should wake up. Suresh Kalmadi even wanted to be present to witness this pathetic show - thank God, he was prevented from doing by the Court!
I don't think we should have much hope apart SAIF games until the management and coaching system is altogether changed and only worthy players are selected to represent the national team.
After seeing the performance of Indian men hockey team I understood that how great is our coaching system... its not surprising to know that such a cost is invested for losing results...

We Boddunan people are also not bad.....we create separate threads for each winners ;) :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:    as if we have broken some world record of 1000 medals

After seeing the award winning performance in Hockey, I really thought for a moment...it was better if we didn't go to Olympics

heheh  that's true. Even a school boy could have played much better than the team
Tennis has brought a lot of shame to our country. We witnessed most talent players of the world fighting each other due to their personal problems. The result was loss of 1-2 medals and a lot of money spend on them
I read in newspapers today that when Mary Kom arrived in India and was met with the media people, the first thing she did was ask for forgiveness for not keeping her promise of winning a Gold. She actually said she was sorry to bring back only a Bronze, that speaks volumes about her persona as humble and modest person, unlike so many others! I applaud Mary Kom for that!

I just heard that we have added another silver through Sushil in wrestling, that is a good news but that ends the final hope of a gold in this Olympic. I repeat what I have been saying all along that this is matter of shame for us that a country of 1.4 billion and millions of managers with all the powers in their hands cannot manage a single gold medal.

I also heard it in news that Sushil Kumar reached in semifinal of wrestling I don't know which medal he won.
