Am a little late. I forgot to post it at monsoon season.
Monsoon is a season of cold, cough and fever. We usually boil water with Krishna Tulsi leaves and use it for drinking purpose regularly during this season. It's very effective for cold and for a bad throat, no doubt, it's the best natural medicine. Just put a few Tulsi leaves in water and boil it well and use it as drinking water. No need to see a doctor for a mild cold, I guarantee. :) :) :)

Thulasi theertham.....a very famous devotional album of Lord Krishna. (Malayalam).
We also call it theertham, the holy water given from temples. But it's not always Tulsi water. In some Ganapathi temples, milk is given as theertham.
I would like to tell one healthy tip here:

in the evening take some 20 tulsi leaves and wash them

boil water and soak the tulsi leaves in hot water

leave it over night in a vessel wit lid closed

the next morning drink the water

this will relieve all the body ailments
Yes Tulsi is the best remedy in cold and cough but we don't used in it in hot water instead we boil it in tea and drink it certainly gives good results. :)

Yes. We can prepare tea in usual manner by adding milk and also add Tulsi leaves. Adding ginger also benefits.
Generally people have a plant of Tulsi (Holy Basil) in every home in part of the world for different purposes, we use Tulsi-leaves for medicinal use as well as this is a very good antibiotic. We mostly drink it with our tea along with ginger and pepper.

Even Tulsi and ginger are crushed and the juice is mixed with Honey with some kali Mirch and is taken in cough and cold as a medicine. :)

Since the thread starter wants to know about drinking with water, I mentioned about tea otherwise we can use Tulsi in many different ways.
It's one of the natural medicines commonly available in our country. But only a few give it that much importance, as it's told, jasmine at our courtyard...we can't get its perfume
Thanks Sandhyaji for this tip. I often suffer from cough and cold. I use to take medicines or strong black ginger tea or chew ginger with honey and tulsi leaves. This time I will try your tip also.
