President Pranab was only reading the address prepared by the union cabinet. If there is anything wrong or contradictory, Union cabinet headed by Man Mohan Singh is answerable. President like British monarch can do no wrong.

Let us not blame President for his any formal address or action. The Union government alone is responsible for all that. Now we have to see Pranab in his new role and not link his tenure as a minister to his current role.

After assuming office office as President, There can be no individual views aired by President. All formal addresses and whatever President does is approved by cabinet. Now President Pranab is to act only on advice of Union cabinet and not according to his individual views. This is far different from his active and personal touch in all matters so far. That is why his past role is unconnected what he does as President. The peculiar position of President or Head of state is the reason why he is not criticized for his role as head of state. The only event when he plays personal role is when no party or alliance gets a majority in parliamentary elections. Thus, his role may be very important just after next parliamentary elections.

Here it is only about Sonia Gandhi and being in her good books only that matters. Exactly!! And also even though Pranab has just started his role as a President, going by his record of what he has done during his tenure in finance, I have absolutely no illusions of what he is going to achieve, or more precisely, what he is not going to achieve, as the new President!!

This is the reason why people hates politicians. They change their speech off and on.

Well,well! I just wish Mr. Mukherjee remains conscious of his past to discharge his new role! If he proves me wrong I would be the happiest man on earth!!

President Pranab need not make speeches in public like active politicians. Now he is in a constitutional post and is supposed to work within framework of constitution. He has no executive powers and hence the mere talk of his going in favor or against some one makes hardly any sense. His formal speeches like address to nation, parliament and that in U.N.O. are drafted by cabinet. He has to function as advised by the cabinet. Making comment on the President just as you do on other leaders hardly has any meaning.

This is just a beginning of a new era. He would do many more strange things for HIS party. He would be a perfect coordinator while there would be differences surfacing in allied groups and parties. Real bad days ahead.
