The riots and ethnic violence in Assam has taken 49 lives so far ,leaving more than 1.5 lakh people homeless :( ..
There is mass exodus from villages since people fear for their lives which has caused even more confusion.Entire villages like Chirang have been torched down with the authorities doing precious little so far...The article traces the background and tries to find a reason for the riot..

All this results from inability of leadership to cultivate harmony and national integration. The vote bank politics, regional and communal tendencies have given rise to such acrimony. In fact, there is enough fuel all over India to ignite such hatred and violence.
Assam rioter has taken many lives. The people suffer from many problem. The price of the commodity are rising everyday. Many families ruined. Many villagers leave

Very true ! I was watching the news report and the officials were more concerned about warding off the blame and trying to pin down others rather than send help where it was needed. The plight of those poor people dont seem to move them :(
Still the Assam Govt has not taken enough and strict measures to stop the violence in the state. What it is waiting for? Surprisingly, there is no official words about the cause of the violence.

Basically the Bangladeshis are the root cause since they have been stealthily coming into India and locals are helping by giving them cards and make it look like they are residents. This has been going o for a long time now...
This sort of incidence happened in Assam 40 years back. Once again this has happened. Very sad news.

Is that so? and was it as bad ...By the way , was it the Noakhali genocide where many people were massacared , raped and forcibly converted ?
Violence can never give peace.....only tensions and less feeling of security. Neglecting of Government authorities will make situations only worse. It's really sad to know people living under such threats, even if we claim we are a developing nation.
Finally ,( after 9 days of continued violence at Assam when people got butchered and had to flea from their villages ) our honorable PM Manmohan Singh ,has finished with all his important duties to the nation like swearing Pranab Mukherji in and attending a dinner party given by Sonia Gandhi etc decided to pay a visit to the place where now everything is slowly coming under control, so safe enough for him to step in and show how pained they all are...

Man Mohan Singh did visit the place but just to meet the media and give his take on the riots which was the usual things like ' this should never have happened, it is a blot on our country ' etc etc...other than that he din't even visit the villages which have been burnt down...of course he announced some relief funds but you never know how helpful that would be since , everyone knows that it never reaches those in need but always finds its way to those in greed ..
All leaders have a photostat copy of a written speech which they bi-heart and where ever they go, use it with some minute changes.
Yes, relief funds are allowed. But lion share will go into leaders' pockets!!!!
We all know what happened to tsunami fund.
Assam riots once again destroyed many families. But govt. assured them to pay for it so that they can again start their new life.
