Good news for the sbi customers as they cut offs the minimum balance in their savings account to attract new customers as this is applicable to new customers also.

This is a good news indeed and the facility is available to existing customers also.
It's really a good news. Only account I have with an ATM card is SBI, taken 7-8 months back...though I rarely use it.
So, i can withdraw money if I need so
Sandhya now you can manitain money in the sbi so there is no charge for savings account and you need not bother of the fine on your account
Thats a kool news.. I hope other banks follows the same. Many are having minuimum blaance as 10K. SBI is fas less with rupee 1K.

Yes we can have many accounts in one bank if you have lot of money.

I am a bit confused since the actual amount is not mentioned.Is it that they are doing away with minimum balance altogether ? that will be really good :)
The minimum balance is 1000 rs but now it is not there so now you can maintain zero balance in your account.
Oh that's great but i know most of the banks would do it now at least they will reduce it to 5K. :laugh:

In HDFC bank,my account is operated in 0 balance.

Mine is also operated on ZERO balance as mine is salaried account in ICICI. :)

Salary account is one which organisation opens it in group to send salary of their employees its more like a saving account except a special feature that it can be operated at zero balance. :)

Its a real good news. There are so many common people who cannot afford to keep 1000RS as minimum balance , its good for them. This will surely attract more customers.

SBI Bank's Customer are more of Villages,so this will be a great relief for them.
