Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.


Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:


S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)

(i.e. It is sunny out today.or any sentence in the patient's own language)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.


If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Very important topic.Thanks Abid! I suffered a personal tragedy when my mother suffered one and even the local doc could not detect it and she had an untimely end because life-saving measures could not be initiated early enough.

Thank you for the direction. They will really come in handy whenever such event occurs in anyone's life.

In this context I would like to add that daily walk for atleast one hour is a must to prevent from forming of excess cholestrol which are the root cause of heart attack.

I think in these days when a section of the members of the medical profession is busy in being inventive to fleece their prospective patients we must strive to acquire some bare minimum knowledge about diseases and their cures.
