I always get confused that egg is vegetarian or non vegetarian. Few people say it is vegetarian as government has declared but some people say it is non vegetarian.
I feel so strange which one to believe.
Let us see what you people say

Eggs do not grow on trees nor are grown on land. These are animal products and hence non veg. even milk is not veg in true sense.
I have a different opinion and i don't think milk to be non veg as there is no flesh in it. I have heard that eatable that contains flesh or have something which may convert in to living being is non veg. Though i agree milk is an animal product. :)
Some people consider even fish as veg in Bengal mostly but eggs and fish are non-veg items.
And what do you think about milk and honey?
Fish is non-veg, honey is waste of bee but has health benefits.
Suni in Bengal fish is non-veg. Where do you hear about it.....
I said some people consider it veg not all. This is acceptable to Pandits also. Isn't it?
thats what ram, even i also shocked to know that. but how no one are aware of this
becoz, the mother love gives her blood to its kid as milk to grow up.. :) :) :) :)
so when we offer it to God, only the love stands there, i think...
but the hen does not give its egg to anyone with love..
we people are taking the egg from its mother voluntarily...
so milk has gone near God with the LOVE

  but sometime mother also don't give milk with love like cows & buffaloes.
Doctor advice is not based on veg or non veg. As egg is god for health, doctor will recommend- veg or non veg.
It makes no difference what some body considers as what. anything not grown on tree or plants is not vegetarian. If some body decides such thing without reason, he may well say that mutton, chicken and fish are also veg.

Yes some people consider egg as vegetarian even doctors are saying to eat one egg daily.
They say it because it is good for health i have heard that 10 apples are equivalent to 1 egg. So why don't we eat it daily.
You know I am afraid of bird flu so I stopped eating non veg back in 2004. I am happy as vegan now. Saving money and feeling free from health risk as well.
Certainly Egg is a non vegetarian. But i don't think milk is non- veg as it doesn't contain any flesh , blood and it can't create any new one.
Milk is not flesh. But this is obtained by milking an animal. This is not obtained from trees and plants. Hence this is not vegetarian. However this is non non vegetarian in the same way as mutton or chicken.
Plants are also considered as living beings. If we are cutting their body parts for our uses, how can we term it as vegetarian????
This is simply a question of defining what is vegetarian. Plants and trees provide us vegetarian food. Animals provide non vegetarian. Both have lives. There is no way any living thing can exist without taking vegetarian or non vegetarian or both.
These discussion will never end. Some non Bengali who are totally vegetarian eat egg but they used to say that chicken, meat etc are non veg.But they forget that egg comes from the hen only.I just don't understand their logic.
Their logic is that the farm house eggs cannot be hatched and these contain no life. As such, these are vegetarian according to them.
