Is Kashmir safe to visit now?

Is it safe to visit Kashmir the heaven of earth?. Most of us have heard about the beauty of this place but have never dared to go there because of terrorism there.But now a days we don't hear much of it so will it be safe now to visit kashmir? :blink:

kashmir the dream city where i always wanted to visit but my parents say no.from last 5years im going vaishno devi but when it comes to visit srinagar and jammu im unable.my parents say if you ahve to visit go after your marriage.

and i will surely visit this place after my marriage once in lifetime.i wanted to live in boat house.


Baby why your parents say it?. Now there is no much risk in going there like it was years ago now you can visit there without fear. Recently one of my friend's friend has returned after visiting Kashmir and in the end of this month my younger brother is going to visit there. :)


i hope this time i will be able to convince mumma-pap for going there.

I too wanted to visit Kashmir,as i wanted to visit the Switzerland of India once in my lifetime.
I wanted to come there with my wife. :P

But Suny as i see there are few incidents in 2012 yet as compared to the past years.May be the situation is improving now there. :)

Yes right, actually the things have taken a different turn now since the US forces in Pakistan and pressure by international forums, but the camps are still going on.

Terrorist would be engaged somewhere.India has a good defense system.I think that Kashmir is changing now.People have become more aware.They are coming out of the houses to show that everything is well and Visit to Kashmir is safe.

On a serious note, this is wise to be careful if any one wants to visit there. There is a problem there and you might face an untoward incident all of a sudden.

I am still not confirmed if it is safe or not i will confirm it from my younger brother who is going for Amarnath yatra and from there he will visit Kashmir let him come back i will share the experience he would have there. :)

Amarnath Yatra is the ultimate test of Kashmir safety issue as they try to disturb it every year. I remember while I visited there in 2000-1, that was so much terrifying. The firing and blood nothing else where travelers were staying. We saved our lives hiding inside a toilet.

Yesterday only i read it in news that terrorist are threatening this Amarnath Yatra.But i know every year they give threats whenever the yatra is scheduled but i don't think they are able to due to tight security there but there is always a fear. :blink: I told this to my brother but he is adamant and not cancelling his plan. :evil:

Some people are killed every year during Amarnath yatra, but people want to prove them wrong and never feel afraid, keep on going despite every problem every year.

Kashmir is known as the land of paradise.we often heard that Kashmir is little bit dangerous to visit.but still we have an urge to visit the place.so now we wont heard any such type of dangerous incident of Kashmir.but i think its safe now to have a look to this beautiful place.

When did you visit last there? I resigned from Kashmir a few years back due to deep trouble there.
