Absolutely correct.A teacher knows the psychology or can analyse the psychology and other activities of a student and can direct him accordingly.This is true in respect of own child and his/her students.

People only use physical assault when they fail at managing people, why doesn't your manager slap you now? A teacher who can not even manage a child and needs to slap to control a child is a sheer failure and does not even deserve to be one.
