I don't think there is anything right with child labor.
Childhood is the age in which kids enjoy their life and study and understand the world.

They will gather knowledge from their childhood and will make themselves eligible to survive in this competitive world.

So as a kid every child has the right to enjoy his life and visit school to gather knowledge.

Those who are working as child should understand the importance of knowledge and their parents should realize about this and so they should not allow their kids to work somewhere and allow them to study.

Working burdens at such a small age may ruin their life as they will miss those days which are not going to come back again.
People should understand the importance of knowledge and respect there small ages and should offer them education rather than offering job.

"I don't like the concept of 'CHILD LABOR'!"
Dear Friends,

India is in second position for account of child labor and South Africa is first.

80% child labor is in agricultural field. As we know if children are below age of 14 years then if he works that means he is child labor.

I think child labor is not much good things but if Govt. do arrangement of education with labor work than it may be some good news for them.

If education is not with work that means no growth for them that is biggest disadvantage for child labor.
The term Child Labor is used for employment of children below a certain age, which is considered illegal by law and custom. The stipulated age varies from country to country and government to government. Child labor is a world phenomenon which is considered exploitative and inhuman by many international organizations.

Child Labor began to be considered a human rights issue and became an issue of public dispute, when the foundation of universal schooling was laid. Historically the transformation came with the industrial revolution and the emergence of concepts like children’s rights and worker’s right’s. Child labor is widely prevalent in some form or the other, all over the world. The term is used for domestic work, factory work, agriculture, mining, quarrying, having own work or business’ like selling food etc, helping parent’s business and doing odd jobs. Children are regularly employed to guide tourists, sometimes doubling up as a marketing force to bring in business for shop owners and other business establishment.

According to the statistics given by International Labor Organization there are about 218 million children between the age of 5 and 17 working all over the world. The figure excludes domestic labor. The most condemned form of child labor is the use of children for military purpose and child prostitution. Child agricultural works, child singers and child actors outside of school hours during season time are more acceptable by champions of human rights and law. The phenomenon of child labor is a complex development issue worthy of investigation. The fact that vulnerable children are being exploited and forced into work, which is not fit for their age, is a human rights concern now. India and other developed and developing countries are really plagued by the problem of child employment in organized and unorganized sectors.

The causes of child labor in the contemporary world are the same as those in U.S. hundred years ago- namely poverty, lack of education and exposure, poor access to education, suppression of workers rights, partial prohibition of child labor and inadequate enforcement of child labor laws.

Child labor in India is a human right issue for the whole world. It is a serious and extensive problem, with many children under the age of fourteen working in carpet making factories, glass blowing units and making fireworks with bare little hands. According to the statistics given by Indian government there are 20 million child laborers in the country, while other agencies claim that it is 50 million.

In Northern India the exploitation of little children for labor is an accepted practice and perceived by the local population as a necessity to alleviate poverty. Carpet weaving industries pay very low wages to child laborers and make them work for long hours in unhygienic conditions. Children working in such units are mainly migrant workers from Northern India, who are shunted here by their families to earn some money and send it to them. Their families dependence on their income, forces them to endure the onerous work conditions in the carpet factories.

The situation of child laborers in India is desperate.Children work for eight hours at a stretch with only a small break for meals. The meals are also frugal and the children are ill nourished. Most of the migrant children who cannot go home, sleep at their work place, which is very bad for their health and development. Seventy five percent of Indian population still resides in rural areas and are very poor. Children in rural families who are ailing with poverty perceive their children as an income generating resource to supplement the family income. Parents sacrifice their children’s education to the growing needs of their younger siblings in such families and view them as wage earners for the entire clan.
In villages when children labor work more?

At the time of water supply for farm.
On home and other construction works.
Cutting of goat, buffaloes and other animals.
For Home daily works.
For selling and buying vegetables and other things.
For Cutting of crops and other crop works etc.
Other works.
Child labor is one of heinous crime.People who are using

children for labor should be punished severely.Parents who are

not able to give their children proper childhood should avoid

giving birth.well, India has laws to deal with child labor .but,

they are not implemented in proper way.

Government has provided child education almost

free with many other facilities.Alone government can't do much

about this unless people make aware of it.
AS PER GD TOPIC: "What is wrong with child labor? Your views."
Problem is exist for those people who are not educated and they did not understand value of education that is reason that they do not stop his children for work or for making him child labor.

All reason behind this matter is education.
The child stage is very important stage in human life. This is the life span for grooming up, getting education for good citizenship, good worker and valuable member of society. Education up to at least secondary level is must for everyone. To force children to work is great injustice to them as well as society at large.
The poor sections of society are forced to send their children for work as they do not have sufficient income to send their children to school. Instead the children are source of income to them. This further encourages them for more children as a child means more family income.
There are restriction in factory law on employment of children. The children above the age of fifteen can be allowed to work as apprentice under guidance of experts. The hours of work for the apprentices are lesser. The purpose of apprentice training is mainly education and not work.
It is high time the children are given free and compulsory education upto class VIII. The factories and other establishments must be strictly forced to abide by law restricting employment of children. many children are employed in glass industry at Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh) , where they have to work in inhuman conditions consisting of intolerable heat and even proper drinking water and cold drink is not given to them. The labor Department is bribed by the factories and establishments. By initiation of this discussion, we may highlight the failure of labor Department

But many of the people employing the children are an educated people. But still they do not hesitate to employ the children as they would have to pay less and maybe because they are easier to manage. And nothing can be worse than these thoughts.

Unfortunately, exploiting children seems to a part and parcel of our society including in social functions. For instance, in Rajasthan small boys of around 10 years of age are employed to accompany the 'baraat' carrying electric lamps on their head which is very dangerous.
Child labor is bad as childhood is the age for learning. It is injustice to children and also to the society. Who knows that the child spending his childhood as labor may be a good scientist if given proper environment. The society also loses the potential of the future citizens by deploying them as cheap labor in restaurants, cycle shops, bangle factories and so on.
However, when a child has received at least secondary level education, there is nothing wrong in employing him as a trainee/ apprentice. There are many things that only a child can do. The role of child character cannot be played by an adult. There are many trades where adults are unsuitable because of their size. It may be okay to make law for employment of children in such trades for shorter hours keeping in view the education needs and health of child.
Child labor is a very bad thing. Many people telling that India is a developed country. But by seeing this child labor, when India will become developed country. If they can't study, then how they know the things and how they survive betterly.

Government just made some laws. That's it. Government is not doing better job in this regard. We can't blame parents too. They can't pay the fee and they can't grow them. So government should encourage them for their wonderful childhood.
The children till the age of fifteen years should not be generally employed in any way. But there are some trades where only children can work. A schedule of employment where children can work should be drawn keeping this aspect in view. The children should be allowed lesser number of working hours and their education should not be affected. Only child artists can play role of child characters. many parents are poor and they cannot send children to school. The first requisite is to make education up to tenth free and compulsory. This will reduce burden on parents and they will send their children to school instead of sending them for work.
The big business men and bureaucrats employ children as domestic workers. Even many children from Nepal are employed as domestic workers. There should be strict penalty on the employers for engaging child labor and also maltreating them. It is also seen that many parents even send their children to Gulf countries for camel race. It is also probable that there is mafia who kidnap children for sending abroad for camel race or domestic drudgery. Very drastic steps are required.
i really feel appreciated for a topic ,which every mother, father bro will support a cause.

and why not every one has to go through this cycle of life.there we see a child who works without his health intact working for 10 hours or so.how can we bear this always even though we know that child labour a serious crime to humanity had crossed its limit in society.

the goverment body ,ngo ,etc. talks about various implementation ,new goodies for so called as publicity stunt.even bollywood actors come together for having there images clean & marketable for there films profit

so does anyone cares,we can observe the efforts of media who for trps, or fame make atleast an issues by mistakenly to a sensitive issues.

even, media know this child related news like child labours, abuse, etc can make them gather some profit.
so in the end we all get story of how much of the child labour had increased ,rather than what has any one done for the cause .

really ,this topic had been in my heart as my dad who has now expired had to work as labour as he lost his father when he was so small to understand the meaning of life.

he really tookthis harsh life which include fasting, eating uncooked foodgrains, going to relative wedding with old torn clothes that makes me cry.

but, he left his legacy for me & he died when he was getting good salary never got time to regain his child hood.

but, i'm proud thatmy father who was victim of child labour had given me as B.E & my sis as BPHARM degree

so i'm proud that a child labour victim i.e my dad (gajanan s.tambe) never got chance to enjoy untill he expired 8-07-2002

please ,never support this child labour as it may be you/your son daughter who will be next victim.
I totally disagree with child labour. But the condition in the indian villages are the main cause of child labour. I personally know a guy who took manpower supply as a job supplies lot of children from the neighboring states to hotels and construction sites in our place - The Famous "GOD's Own Country". Now a days people less think of values and interested only in making profits. They are not at all bothered about the difficulties causing to others due to their character.
To stop child labout Govt of India has introduced lot of laws. What they haven't introduced is the law enforcers. Because the big big political parties and their top leaders also gets some share of the illegal child jobs.
To stop this menace some NGO's must act sternly. Even the Apex court can also intervene in this matter.
I agree with Shalu Joseph. There are plenty of labor law that strictly prohibit or regulate employment of children in factories and establishment. But there is no enforcement. Corruption in labor Department is main cause. The NGO should also play constructive role in this regard. I think there should be child Rights commission like Minorities and women commission. Employment of children in dangerous trades and even otherwise is also infringement of human rights. One classic case of Bhudia, who was being made to run long distances daily by his sports coach. The Human rights activists played a very useful role in protecting him.
In our country there are different laws but there are very few people who are following these laws.
Government has started different laws and has ignored Child Labor.
The Government officers who are in charge should realize about this and should do the needful to stop child labor.
Even strict actions should be taken who are supporting child labor and giving job to young boys and girls.
These action may range from terminating business license if they are organization and sentence to prison for a good period and there should be no bail and there should special law which will take immediate action against such incidents.

I think these actions will help us stop this cruel activity.
Regarding Child labour, I think it is a crime and is against our constitution.

Our constitution ensures free and compulsory education to all children up to the age of 14.Then if it is compulsory how can one make a child to do work in a farm or field or any factory?

In my state child labour is prohibited. No child labourer of Kerala origin can be seen here. But when other state labourers come to work they bring their children also and they work with their parents. If some human right activists sees this the child will not be allowed to work.
Yes Child labour is crime it should be stopped in India and other places. Mostly some one are doing crime and use children for begging money and remove some part of children and Govt is not doing well for them.

If Govt strict then there may some solution come only one or two rule can stop these things .
Santosh Kumar singh- Correctly mentioned that children are also used for begging. At Agra, many women carry small babies with them and demand money for milk of child. Many women even lend their babies to other women for begging purpose. All this is heinous and unlawful.
The root cause of indifference and corruption in govt. machinery. Some times, they begin a campaign against such practices and later the old practices again come up.
You have stated- "If Govt strict then there must be some solution come only one or two rule can stop these things."
Please state what this -one or two rule is.
Mr.Gulshan,
You are correct. Many uses child as an income source while begging. All willl extend their help when they see a tired child sleep in the lap of a woman. It is just exploitation of the soft corner of human mind. But what can we do on this?THere will be fake coins in midst of good coins.

At the time of banning child labour a solution to hold the children of road side workers are also to be formulated. When their parents work this tiny tots are forced to help or to be with them under sun. There is no provision to keep them or look after them.Without a solution to this problem we cannot ban child labour completely.
