On June 2nd, re-elections is to be held in Neyyattinkara constituency of Kerala. Drama took place when communist MLA gave his resignation 2-3 months before. Selvaraj, the resigned communist MLA is now Congress candidate.  . Lourence is Communist candidate and former Railway minister O.Rajagopal is BJP candidate.
This constituency is notorious for caste votes. More than 50% voters belong to Nadar community and they can really influence the result. Since this community is found only in the southern parts of states and Tamil Nadu, many voters give their vote according to caste, thinking they may do something for the caste.
This time, both congress and communist candidates are from Nadar community. So, voters will really be confused? Also, will people vote for Selvaraj as he has changed the party? Will BJP get the benefit of this, since votes will split? But they have never won a seat till now.
Most influencing factor would be T.P.Chandrasekhar murder. CPM is accused of it and Congress using this as a better opportunity to fight with full confidence.

What do you think? Who will win this time?

Yes, still a long way to go to earn a seat here!!!
People won't give their votes for BJp thinking they won't win. Yet reforms are seen!!!
Yes people are thinking of change in government as they are bored of Congress.

Let us see, if Selvaraj do something nice for our constituency :woohoo: :woohoo:
When the election result started when BJP and UDF gone way of challenging i thought the win is for LDF. UDF claim it from the hands of both of them.

Yes, till 60% counting completed Congress was never seen anywhere in the picture. I also thought, giving a seat to Selvaraj, Congress has committed a mistake. But, after that they took lead and both the others couldn't catch him
Counting was completed in our state YSRC won the 15 places out of 18 places.
But Sasi, you didn't mention it anywhere
Why can't you say a few words?

It's clear in today's newspaper....
Last year voting percentage was most low at TVM district. This constituency had polling only below 55%.
This year , it's not the case....82-83 % polling....record polling!!!

This is the chart showing the %ge of votes both the years.
Last year.......LDF.......54711.....UDF......48009........BJP.....6730.....LDF Won by 6702 votes
This year.......LDF........46194....UDF......52528........BJP.....30507....UDF Won by 6334

What does it show????
I feel, both LDF and UDF haven't lost/gained votes considerably. Isn't it? But BJP got 25,000 votes more. Did those votes given by people who stood far away from elections last year? What do you think?
Are, people who lost belief in both parties and didn't vote last year... seeking change of power to BJP hands? What do you feel?

U.D.F. secured just four thousand votes more and LDF lost eight thousand votes. Possibly, some loss of LDF is caused by congress candidate's personal friends and followers' votes.
BJP has significantly gained more votes. A Communist vote seldom shifts to BJP. Most probably, the votes got by BJP or either from new voters or from traditional congress voters. In absence of BJP, congress could win with greater margin. I may be wrong as I am not aware of actual conditions in Kerala.

Yes, communist votes seldom shifts to BJP, but congress votes may have...particularly Nair Hindu Community votes. Since both LDF and UDF candidates are Christians and Muslim voters very low in Neyyattinkara Constituency, BJP might have gained more Hindu votes. Isn't it?

Exact. I agree. The congress candidate won by shifting votes from the communist, especially those owing to candidate's personal influence. He would win by greater margin if BJP were not in contest.
