In India, PM is the supremo. President is least important. In other countries, Presidents are very active. President in India becomes active during emergency. Other than this, President is supreme commander of National Defence. President appoints PM of India. Many other other power vists on him / her.

Yet I would root for continuation of this post provided a truly deserving candidate is chosen unanimously who commands respect from all across the length and breadth of the country. It's sectarian and narrow focus of choice that has created so much of sentiments of a negative kind in this country. When Dr.Kalam was denied a second term a significant section of people felt disgusted!!

Some times I cannot stop but think that when they decide to send some one off the active politics they offer him this post for all the fun and nothing to do. Pronob Mukerjee is in next in line.

I don't know what is in the womb of future. Honestly I have very little interest in his candidature as I read his role during the infamous Emergency when he was solidly behind Late Sanjay Gandhi to further his political career!!

they want to see him off the active politics, nothing else. he is the only one who may stand in the way of Rahul although there seems to be no next chance for them. But who knows?
