I feel let the children enjoy their childhood.. Professionalism is not for children.
No its not required from childhood but at a certain age he/she should be a professional to compete with the people. :)
Where is the scope for professionalism for a kid?? Let there be a profession first!!
Yes you are right child age is for enjoyment and its should be free from any type of restriction.
I am not in favor of children to get exposed to any extra burden apart the basic natural and decent upbringing. They already have so much to face later in their lives; why over burden their childhood!!!
The question is not very clear as to what is exactly meant!! What would children have to do with professionalism? Children should only be expected to study, play and enjoy life!
I want to say professional subject should be from first standard and teacher should give weightage to teach them.

They should begin this from 9th standard onward, by that time they can read general subjects to know basics and their minds get matured too up to some extent.
Let us be very clear about what professionalism stands for. If the degree of sincerity or seriousness is being labeled as professionalism - I differ!

I totally agree! But let us not label them with heavy words like professionalism etc. The children are far too young to understand them! They only need to learn the difference between right and wrong, work and play etc.

This is a very dicey topic, schooling is the last place where children actually learn anything!
What I gather from his postings that he wants to ask about whether it would be fine to train children in professional subjects like business, engineering and medicines etc from basic classes? I may be wrong about it...but my answer says no we should wait until the child reaches high-school.

That is probably what he means! Could you please correct weather to whether? Surely you don't want tour grammar to fall under weather??? :woohoo:
I want to keep it the way it is. Because whenever I would see this mistake in future that would remind me that some one is there to correct me every time I make a mistake. But I must not forget to say thanks Kalyani - for your fine editorial caliber.
Let the children enjoy their childhood they can not under stand what it means.
Professionalism is nothing but a mental attitude to give best possible performance and spirit of excellence. such attitude should be imparted from early age.

It's not all about attitude what makes a profession. Such an attitude needs to be backed by mastery of a certain branch knowledge. That's the reason why we see so many disciplines requiring its members to undergo a rigorous study of both practical and theoretical aspects over a certain frame of time.
I think, early studies should be given importance to plays, story telling etc.
Why can't they be taught painting, drawing, dancing, singing etc......
Even some games can really train a kid's mind a lot. Any thing can be selected, but should nver be a burden to the kid and he should enjoy it the most
Yes Gulshan ji it is required if they had this idea in child hood they will definitely become proffesionals when they grow.
Actually today computer subject exist from 1st standard so they start to become professional from chlid age.
Yes, that explains the matter finally. I think children today are far better than 10 years before and if you compare them with 40 years before children today would look totally different.
