I believe that he is the most talented music director of present times who has been reigning Indian music industry for more than 2 decades.....Fast numbers, slow numbers, romantic, patriotic or even devotional....no one can beat him. What's your opinion? What are your most favourite Rehman tunes????
I love Alaippayuthe(2000) most. What's your choice?

Sandhya I can say Vandemataram song of AR rehman still it is in my mind.
When Rehman tunes are dubbed to Hindi, many of them had lost their fate....Puthiyamukham (Vishwavidhatha) and Rhythm(lakeer) are a few among those, which didn't get much attention later
Rehman is the son of a Malayalam music director R.K. Shekhar. He just begin his career in the Malayalam industry, death took him. So Rehman's family shifted from Palakkad Kerala to Chennai.
His first movie was Roja.
You will be surprised to know he gave his second one to a Malayalam movie in 1992 named Yodha, Mohan lal and Madhu bala. Sangeeth Sivan is the director.
Hearing its songs no one can believe it's done by Rehman since instruments used are just classical ones.
One funny song of competition between Mohan lal and Jagathy Sreekumar is there. Just check it.
Really funny! You will love it, definitely!!!

Just quote a few good ones.
I want to know whether, his songs are dubbed to Telugu also.

Rose movie melody song
telugu : Na cheli rojavey , nalo vunnavey, ninney thalacheydayvey, kallalo neeve, kaneeta neeva, madhi loneee neevey, kanipinchavo andinchavo tooodu

Hindi : Roja naneeja , thuhee merey din
A.R. Rehman is my favourite singer as well as music director. I like his compositions and singing. Simply the best.
Songs of lakeer are directly taken from 2000 hit, Rhythm.
That year, he had 3 hits in Tamil .......Alaippayuthe, (later taken as Saathiya), Rhythm and Kandukondein Kandukondein......a beautiful film, where Aishwarya and Tabu acted as sisters. Shankar Mahadevan got National award for best singer for the first time for this film.
Although these 3 were huge musical hits, you will be surprised to know that songs of Rhythm were more hit than Alaippayuthe that year. But in Hindi Lakeer was not successful as Saathiya. Isn't it?
Reason I feel ......bad lyrics, bad picturisation and of course bad singing also. Words were not catchy as Tamil songs. Rhythm has 5 songs indicating panch bhoot......Air, water, earth, wind.....it was the most important factor.
Also Shankar mahadevan gave his life to this particular water song, even in it's picturisation.....Thaniye means,.......hey water
It was the top hit of year 2000 and it's the best song of Shanker Mahadevan in Tamil

A.R Rehman is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician, multi-instrumentalist and philanthropist. He is one of my favorite music director.
Am really proud that he is born as a Malayali as the son of a Malayalam music director, though he settled in Chennai after his father's demise.
Once his father used (stolen) one of his son's compositions when Rehman was 4 years old and made it a hit malayalam song.
i.e. A humming by Rehman at 4 years old was made a hit song by his father.
