A new suggestion for Karma

Sandhya, that would cost money, and again, what would be point of all that!! some things should be best left to users' discretion, that's all!

But I think it will need only a little bit of programming. Since our administrator is an IT specialist, I think, he can do it very easily. Just adding a tab to Karma, in which we give a reason. (accessible only to admin)

your idea is good at least we can know the reason of increasing or decreasing.

"Karma" is like our reputation here on Boddunan and its totally depend on the others how do they find our posts.But to rate someone -ve for just the reason that they did not like our post is not feasible and right way to use it.Moreover i have seen people don't use it often here and don't give rating to the post which actually desrve to get +ve.They should use it and should know how to use it just playing and mocking with someone "karma" should come under the violation and admin should take note of it and take appropriate action for it. :)

I have lost a few within last couple of days, but do I really care? No, is my answer for them. No, since they depend so much on my Karma, I am least bothered they come or go as others see me. That is like Shri Krishna said in Geeta 'Do whatever is required of you, the result is not in your hands'

Yesterday night my karma was decreased. But I don't know its reason. It's my right to know it. Isn't it? It's sure, it's not by that banned boy...someone else :S
May have done before also. But i have not noticed it till now.

The banned boy is back on the site and having fun. In other sites they restrict newbies to use their voting powers unless they reach certain post counts.

Just give a glance on the leader board where the last entry says 'I am back friend' And look at the bottom where you can see the name of the person and then his thread which I have put on top.

so he has back and his name is Chandan Kumar Singh.

Actually i have not used that facility fully. If so, i would have increased the karma of many senior persons earlier itself. I gave a + to Gulshanji only today, for the first time. Can you believe? Ceemji also, only 2 times. I should have given them many times before. But i always give karma generously to new users, given even 4 times to a new person. But now onwards, I am taking it seriously giving them to those only who actually deserve it, as Kalyani has suggested. She has really quoted a nice point.
I had many occasions in which I should have used -ve Karma. But in mind, I feel it's really bad. So, I have kept myself away from it :)

Giving someone a -ve Karma is not bad but we should know when to use it.Disliking someone's post and giving away -ve Karma is something which i can't digest. :)

ya, that's why have put forward a suggestion that at least we should report to administrator before changing karmas. By this way its misuse can be reduced very much. One should be polite in forum. If not he can be given -ve, it's under rule. But never, without any reasons :blink: :blink: We should have a reasonable reason for giving a negative karma :sick:

I would suggest no one to care much about them. There really is nothing to worry much about things like these. Mae no difference. These would go up with the time. I did not even notice them mine went down unless I saw this thread.

What is improvement? I shall write what I feel right whether anyone likes or dislikes. I do not bother about Karma. Also I shall not bother about like/ dislike. Like/ dislike options are available on may sites and I think this will be good on this site also.

Even i don't think some one can start writing good comments just to see his/her karma and if he/she does it than then he/she is not doing right thing at least i won't change my way for others.And why should I?I would write the content what i like not what other like.That's why i said rating -ve to someone is more beyond liking and disliking.One should think it that if the post is really contributing -vely or +vely. :)
