The prominent Daily newspaper in Western Uttar Pradesh Amar Ujala Daily newspaper has published news of sacrifice (bali or Kurbani) of two children at different places at the altar of deities.

Does this not indicate the extent of barbarism and religious fundamentalism in Western uttar Pradesh? apparently, the authorities are not giving adequate attention to prevent such heinous crimes.

These kinds of practices should be stopped immediately...But how..
Is there anybody to take initiative??
The least that can be done is to take care of your surroundings. Whenever you fear such events in neighborhood, report to police and social organizations (NGOs). An individual can do nothing more. This is mainly for NGOs to take educative and motivational campaigns and seek police/ administrative actions. We may individually cooperate by joining such NGOs and be active therein.
There was a mixed feeling of anger  and sadness :( when i heard this news. How can a person can sacrifice a human for his greediness and superstition ? Are we still living in 21st century or in some ancient time?
Bahni- I believe that most of our religious practices arise from ignorance, blind faith and greed. there is nothing spiritual or religious behind these dark practices. People are greedy for getting money, children and other achievements. They believe that they can get with blessing of deity. So, they make animal or even human sacrifice. There are other such practices also, which are less harmful. many go to shrines and temples before commencing any campaign or project. many politicians visit shrines for getting blessing for winning in elections.
There is no harm to go to temple or shrines to get blessing before starting any work.

But these HUMAN or ANIMAL SACRIFICE practices are very harmful for the society.. Awareness is required for eradicating these cruel practices.
I agree that there is no harm to visit temples for getting blessings. But such faith may result in subsequent step to please deity by offerings including animal and human sacrifice. There is no limit where blind faith can lead to.
If it is so.. It is due to lack of proper education and awareness..
There is lack of proper education. This is correctly stated by kumaresh. But many educated people also act on superstitions. As long as superstitious beliefs do not lead to inhuman acts like Sati, human or animal sacrifice etc., there is no harm. But strict action is required when inhuman practices prevail.
When the some of the educated people come under the influence of these decadent superstition it sends negative message to the common illiterate masses.
