Transferring bank accounts

RBI has asked banks to transfer a customer's accounts without changing a/c number.

even presently, a customer has many facilities in Anywhere banking system.

But many branches of PNB refuse many services like depositing cheques, completing pass Books. RBI should instruct banks to allow all services at any branch to all customers.

The best thing will be to keep all accounts centrally at head office of bank and provide each and every service from any branch that a customer chooses.

Now core banking facilities exist. and a new system. customers will be benefited.
If I am not mistaken the banking system in private banks is working on the same basis. Only SWIFT code is enough to recognize a member along with his account number to deal on global basis. No Branch code etc is required.
