insecurity creates cruelness. Really they are not cruel. They don't want to lose her son's love and affection.

Many has been depicted in the long boring saas bahu sagas on television. But I don't think mother in laws are so cruel always conspiring against you. There might be less understanding and it may take time. Though I don't have a first hand experience yet :laugh:

yes as sharmistha said, all mother in laws are not cruel. There are few who are very jealous and greedy of money. Actually mother in law feel that daughter in law came to her house so her son will listen to daughter in law only. he wont listen her. this kind of thinking will make mother in law cruel. mostly. So in such situations, son is the main person who can make everything cool that is he should balance the relation with mother and wife. then everything will be cool and no mother in law will be cruel but sometimes for the sake of money mother in law will become cruel. in this case the son should take towards his wife side. but now a days with the greedy and selfishness of money they are taking towards mother side. so mother in law becoming more strong with the support of son, so finally she becoming cruel and creating problems to daughter in law
