The link did not open the list of countries but I am sure Australia should figure among the countries. I was there in February this year and almost every one talked about Foster beer there.
Yes this is the good news for our indians due to this survey our people will try to become now in top 10.
Yet, the way by which our state has turned to be the second best alcohol consumption states in India......the state is also earning a lot of revenue through excise department.....only one department of our state which is in profit
Even our state also earning lot of money from alcohol than other ones.

One by one the countries are shown in reverse order i.e. 10th to first.
Sunil your thought is wrong there is no Australia in the list.

I doubt whether the list is correct.....such a populated country filled with drinkers!
This is a very good news that India is not in the top 10 list of drunkest country.
This list is based on consumption of liqueur per person.
Well I'm not surprised by this fact. I mean a vast population of India lives below the poverty line and how can India be in the top list? Many poor people might be drinking toddy and others some illegally produced stuffs which won't come to the statistics of consumption. Also, compared to other western countries, in our country most of the women do not consume alcohol. Moreover, many muslims (not all), do not drink because it's against their faith. In India, most of us don't serve alcoholic drinks on weddings or other such events unlike many foreign countries.

Still, this is a good news for us!
I thought before seeing this link our country will be definetely in this one but happy to see it is not there.

Nice points noted :)
India is much much behind all the western countries because they drink as if it is water
yes, you are right. But India has not entered in that list means it is due our Indian culture. So we should handoff to our culture and custom

I think India is the largest drunkest country. The statistics take in account only Foreign liqueur or IMFL (India made foreign liqueur). Every community in India has own brand of liqueur. This is called by various names- Mahua, Chhand, Tadi. There is no tribal group in India without own brand of liqueur. All these brands apparently were ignored.
This Thing clearly indicate that they does not count Indian liqueur as a drink..........That why they made a list without Considering it....
