that strike was for removing the excise duty or tax charged on them. and it was going from a long time. i think from 19 march.

In this budget, unbranded jewellery has been subjected to central excise duty whereas formerly only branded jewellery was taxed. They have been given assurance that their grievances will be considered favorably while finalizing budget. Hence they called off their strike.

In the main page of eenadu, I have seen about pranab gave assurance to jewellery sellers. As a result, they called off the strike.
