Using copyrighted material - take extra care

Hi All,

I came to know few issues related to copy protected content and images and would like to clarify any questions related to this.

Here are some faqs:


  1. Boddunan terms and conditions restrict using copy protected material in articles, forums, Q&A and other sections of the site without prior consent from the original author of such material.
  2. Any image/picture that is available in on Internet or other places will be owned by its creator and may be licensed under terms of the license he/she use.
  3. Most of such material licensed under the terms that will not allow you to copy and use on other websites
  4. If you would like to use such material, it is mandatory to read the license of such material.
  5. If such material is free to copy and distribute, you can certainly use such material provided the license does not require any linkbacks or other forms of requirements
  6. You may find open-licensed material in websites such as media wiki which allows you to use the images. Again reading license is mandatory.
  7. It is always good to use the original url of the image to embed in your articles rather than uploading to boddunan servers.
  8. If you owned the material, please do not submit the material with restrictive license so that it will not violate the terms.


We reserve the right to block any accounts which violates the copyrights without any notice. So please co-operate.

I would request all the members to comply with these guidelines to be on the safe side of law as to avoid unnecessary and unpredictable legal consequences for the site as well as members!

Great to read that rules shall be followed strictly. That keeps a site clean and away from disputes. I am in favor of strict rules. Thanks for mentioning them here.

Try to understand that intellectual property issue has been recognized all over the world and some more strict measures are on the anvil! We have to adjust and adapt to the new situation accordingly. Any site administrator has no individual discretion to do anything contrary to the existing provisions of copyrights laws!

Not only the copyrighted stuff but there are some more issues which are under consideration and stuff containing those subjects shall not be accepted on the internet. Therefore twitter, Facebook and other similar sites are not accepting such content and deleting them, rightly so.

Even the copyrighted material also pasting in forum how this is happened.

So now all will take care of the images for articles.

yes, I wish all rules given in the forum by Maverick are clean. So I wish all will surely follow them does not violate the rules at any cost.

yes we should be careful about this.We use many pictures from different site.Most of them free and we use them even in our own purpose. Copyrighted contents are not copied if you don't register.

Better to take your own photoes for your articles.It will not harm any one.

If that is your own camera work you are the owner of that photograph. You can use it on other sites unless they forbid you from submitting used photos on internet. Some sites want fresh photos only. But we are discussing about copyrighted material here.

Sunil.. What about if someone post those own snapped photos in the article here.. As we are selling our article here doesn't mean that we are selling those photos too!?

I think there is no such guidelines that we have to use our own photos in Forums. :unsure: :S :unsure:

Just go through the main post of this discussion.. Admin have mentioned that we can't use copy righted images (directly taken from anywhere from internet) even on forum too... So our own images are the best to use.. :whistle:

There is no compulsary to use images in forums or articles. without them also we can write. it is not manditary but we should not use any copyrighted content and copy righted images. because the usage of copyrighted one will lead to problems and few issues
