Happy ugadi and good after noon. could you descibe this festival in details.

We do not celebrate it but only go to meet our local friends. You know I am basically Punjabi only staying here for a couple of more day. This is all Rangoli and sweets all the way. But we went to Bennerhatta for a fun ride.

Friends I request you never talk about religious things , if you are not having much knowledge. If you talk with out knowledge then it will be insulting the particular religion and custom.

Coming to the ugadhi festival. Ugadhi festival is not today. It is yesterday.More over, ugadhi is a telugu people newyear. On this day we take head bath and then we prepare ugadhi chatney which contains 7 kinds of tastes.the ingredients we include in it are green ripen chili, banana,jagrey,neem flowers,coconut,mango,tamerind. We say this 7 tastes as shadruchulu.So we prepare this and offer to god and we even offer sweets also to god.Then we visit temple . then we have this prasad. then we distributes sweets and this chatney to all our family members and relatives.

this is known as ugadhi festival.

It is not rangoli and sweets. please never insult others customs with false comments.

I am surprised to read your comment. How you felt insulted if I wish My friends ADI of YUG the Ugadi or ugadi next day. This is beginning of an age and we can wish our friends next day also. I wrote in detail here, any one interested can red it

This is Gudi Padava, Chti Chand and new year in Kashmir also.
I hope you are not feeling insulted now. We see lots of Rangoli and eat sweet items when we visit our friends. People in different state celebrate it different way. I never mentioned AP here but I live in Bangalore. There is no reason for you to react so harsh, we wish belated happy new year to our friends. Don't we?

Really nice to know about your new year. Our new year comes on August 17, 2 days after Independence day :cheer:
It's spring season and Onam is also celebrated in that month.

sunil when you tell about the festival which is related to particular place people then try to mention that place name. then no one will feel insulted. As you didnt mention it, so our festival with same name but different. So I felt like that. So before telling about the particular place festival, try to mention place name ok.

Because people like me who love my country, my state, my people, my caste, my customs, my religion cannot bare such kind of insult and even wont tolerate too.

That's right, but this is no good to make things unpleasant with out knowing the background. I never thought wishing happy Ugadi can feel any one insulted. That is so surprising. We wish Happy new year to our friends belated as well. I live in Bangalore and they nvite me to their place and I see Rangoli and eat sweets. That is nice and happy moment for me. What is wrong and insulting in that?

Vaishu, every language people have their own newyear. English people have newyear.As they have rules us in India for few years so we even following their customs too as English newyear as all countries follow.

About mine, I have already quoted....it comes on August 17 and before september 16, we will have Onam....(on thiruvonam star)

Oh yes, I think I should say as per your advice. Because I am feeling so ashamed after reading your answer. I should not wish people on their festivals because I do not know every tradition. I will never do it again. What a blunder...I should not even wish new year to my Americans friends because I am not totally aware of their culture also. Thanks for insightful answer.
