Any text cannot explain. You may know only when you drink yourself. However, let me make an attempt to explain. Drink does nothing except to make you less hesitant. If you are really gentle, you will not be a rogue after drink. But when a rogue drinks, he acts as a rogue after drink as he is no more hesitant. I have taken wine in company of learned persons. At Tezpur, my house owner was History professor. I would usually drink and dine with him. Many of his other colleagues would join. I experienced that they would discuss academic matters and subjects excellently during drinking session. Nobody ever used vulgar language or even quarreled.

Secondly, you are more self confident after drink. It is said that people speak in English better after drink. If some one hesitates to speak in English, drink may help improve his spoken English.

As stated earlier, a man is less hesitant and in true color after drink. So, if a man really loves family, he will express more. If he is talkative or urge to reveal his past, he will do so unhesitatingly after drink.

In this connection, I may refer to consumption of Bhang. This makes one do anything repeatedly. So, one will go on laughing or weeping. He will also need more sweets.

I was given this unknowingly as Prasad on a Shivratri while on my way to stadium for badminton practice, incidentally, then UP No1 was present in practicing area and his regular practicing partner was not present. I tied with him a game and he was so confused to see my reach. I had never scored more than 8 points in a 15 points game against him but that day I took him to full distance. But later I saw the single shuttle as more than one and could not continue.

This may be true as far as heavy drinkers are concerned. But many drink moderately and live well. Noted author and journalist and ex member of Indian foreign Service Sardar Khushwant Sing still drinks. Sir Winston Churchill, British P.M. was a chain smoker and heavy drinker. But he was most successful.

Nobody drinks for hunger. So, saying that one drinks for stomach is not correct. You drink for pleasure of mind only. Most of those who drink enjoy well and live well. Most soldiers drink. They fight well and do all their job in peace time as well.

Nicely put examples, I think soldiers drink it to fight the fatigue and weather conditions. Also they forget their loneliness and problems while having a few drinks.
