Just a few minutes ago, I have concluded about religious belief and its influence in the formation of one's character. Through out the discussion it was clear that those who supported such religious practices were much low comparing to the other group. Yes, attitude of people towards religious beliefs have changed a lot. If so, why are these religious places over crowded than before? Why are people spending so much time from their busy schedules to visit temples and churches? If religious beliefs can't influence a person why this practice has increased over the last few years which has caused many bad incidents due to the over crowding of people?

Because majority of the people do sins and obviously when they come to God to forgive them they make the place crowdy..hehehe...
People whom you have targeted do not belong to these forums. They are from a different class. I would never say that I have no faith in almighty but I would never go for a Ganga snan on a Punima to make it more polluted that Ganges already is. I go their when this is not crowd season. You know there are almost one million people every day in Haridwar to bring water from distant places, ON FOOT in Shivratri days. The whole are is jammed for 15 days not even a bicycle runs from Delhi to Haridwar in last few days. That is a distance about 210 KM.
I think peoples have different thoughts to visit holy places they try to fulfill his desire and want to attach with God.

Exactly people relate God with a particular place of their faith and flock it on their days of belief.
I don't like to visit such places when they are crowded.. That's why I always avoid to went their during some special day when they will be full of crows.. Instead of that I like go their on normal days so that I can pray properly.
I avoid crowded days too, that not only makes place dirty but costly and unhygienic too.
Yes.. and also we will not able to visit that place properly.. Instead of that we can visit place properly and can pray properly on normal days.
Yes its question mark that if people goes to holi places then why God not save peoples if any incident or accedent happen. How people believe on God.
Friends I have little different explanation regarding this topic. First of all, many people believe in God. Faith on God and Dharma is alive in hearts of many people.
Secondly, brahmin family believe in performing puja and rituals. They have compulsory practice of going to temples.
Thirdly, all types and category of people believe in their sacred books and festivals. They will definately go to temple, mosques or churches, etc.
Lastly, holi places are now great tourist spots. It has history and archeological value. Shooting of films and daily soap takes place in temples, etc.
Visiting holy places or temples have nothing to do with one's true religion. We must have a temple in ourselves and strive to remain pure as far as possible. True religion resides in our conscience.
I have quoted in another thread also....nowadays people's greed has increased enormously and many of them had a false belief that if we go to temples and perform some rituals and spend some money for god, he will be happy and he will grand our wish. Am I not right?
Most of them are just using an alternative to attain some aim/goal in their life. That's why temples are crowdy during religious ceremonies.
Business people are aiming such people to sell their goods. This again increases the crowd of a holy place during festival seasons. Isn't it?
People have notions about holiness of certain places and benefits- real or supposed- resulting from pilgrimage. Every deity has millions of devotees. Also same person may be devoted to more than one deity. Faith in deity also changes like politicians. In the past, people had faith in traditional deities like Rama, Krishna, Shiva and Ganesha etc. Now they have shifted their allegiance to others like Sai Baba and Vaishno Devi. Some visit multiple deities. Some of my relatives and friends visit Sai Baba, Vaishno Devi and Banke Bihari (Vrindavan). Now the craze for Santoshi Maa is less. This was because of movie on that deity. May be 'Amar, Akbar, Anthony' helped Sai Baba with more devotees.

People believe that these deities help them in what they do. This has nothing to do with character. Many believe that the deity will help them earn more money by hook and crook and also save them from police and law. Thus, deities destroy and not build their character.

Often greed and folly go together. Many visit religious places for personal motive of getting money, promotion, son and may be for harming enemy. This is obviously not for character. This is greed. This is also folly.
Friends when someone gambles and drinks, he finds pleasure in doing such work. If you love singing, you sing for your mental satisfaction. Likewise you may dance, cook or do some painting, etc. Going to temple and praying to God is also same for many people. Let people live with which they can remain happy and cool, till anything worst happens.
I never mind or interfere about habits of people going to temples or going to clubs, this is their personal matter which they are entitled to fully and truely. This is only about going to places of religious important when this is too crowded, I avoid to go to such places on such occasions. Otherwise I have also visited many places of religious values as a tourist. I like them for different reasons.
i have crowded places as the crowd make the place ugly and destroy the beauty of the place. There are many reason people approaching holy places. it will differ from person to person.
Be it a religious place or any, crowding is a growing phenomenon in India. We are moving into area which are animal habitats!
