We are giving vote to a candidate in election with the belief that he will do good things for the country and that he will be an efficient leader. But, if we can't find at least one candidate (of all parties) who is capable of doing his duties well, should we vote in that election?????? Or should we keep away from voting till the next election, as it is told, vote of each person is precious and it should be done wisely?
i.e. If we can't find a suitable candidate should we vote???? What's your opinion?

Friends problem is not only created by the politicians, problem is also created by public in mass. However, if people are least interested in joining politics, we get less scope to choose right candidate to run a district or a state or a country (as a whole). Voting is our right. It is not compulsory to vote but it is our civic right to elect proper candidate, for our civic work fulfillment.
Why we vote?. Voting is collective action to form a government. Only parties make governments as in U.P. Samajvadi party and previously Bahujan Samajvadi formed. In the Center, Congress led UPA formed.
We have to decide party or alliance and support accordingly candidate on that party symbol unless the candidate is very notorious. If you vote on basis of candidate as individual, there will be MPs or MLAs of small parties and independents who cannot form a government and bring instability.

There should be a column where we can vote as no choice when we can't find a suitable candidate .
This is what anna team says. But we have to vote on party basis for forming a government. 'Rejecting all candidates' is like rejecting all type of food- veg and non veg, sweet and sour, Indian, continental and Chinese.
In this connection, kindly see the article:

I
nice example quoted. Really nice, sir :)
Yes..we have to make a choice from those that are available.
What has happened in recent elections in some states is truly encouraging.Voters are coming out in big numbers these days. Our political parties have to shed their negative culture of fielding history-sheeters,persons of dubious character and credentials to strengthen democracy in the country!
I am asking, if no one is eligible, should we still use our voting power to select one?
Every candidate is eligible. The returning officer rejects the ineligible candidates. The purpose of election is to form a government. Only strong political parties can form a government. If we do vote for candidates of strong political party, there will be too many independents and small parties who only blackmail bigger parties and bring instability and frequent mid term polls. To elucidate, we have two strong parties in U.P.- Bahujan Samajvadi Party and Samajvadi Party. People of U.P. were wise enough to largely vote for these two parties and reject smaller parties like Congress and BJP. so, we have now a good and stable government. On the other hand, no party got clear majority in Uttranchal as voters favored other small parties like bahujan Samajvadi Party instead of two main parties there- Congress and BJP. So, there will be instability and blackmail by Bahujan Samajvadi Partyand independents. Individual character of MLAs is not so relevant.

Stability of the strong does not necessarily ensure peace and development as Mayawati's UP is a clear proof of that. West Bengal's Leftists had a vice-like grip on power for 34 years and consequent stability but what did the people get?
For the past 5 years..I am always out of station...
I voted only once....when Sasi Taroor stood as candidate in TVM. I came to cast my vote taking my little kid along with me thinking that he is an eligible candidate and he will do something good for our country. He won with majority of 1 lakh votes....youth voted for him.
But what happened? He comes to Kerala only for inauguration functions.
Again, I lost confidence in this democracy :(

Look we have to obey the system. Every vote counts, cast your vote to most deserving one otherwise there would be the same situation a Nagnath or sanpnath to rule in turn. We need power to reject.
That's the reason i always vote and say we should vote as its if we don't vote the people who don't deserve may win. :)
