Another great hero of 1960's left us......who entertained us with his wonderful performance through Love in Tokyo, Shahird, Ek haseena ek musafir etc......
I have heard almost all Bengali actors of Bollywood are his relatives. Let us all pray for him.

Ashok Kumar was his maternal uncle. He was an impressive actor. I liked his role in shagird starred by him with I.S. Johar and Sairo Bano.

Love in Tokyo....
Hasrat Jaipuri's lyrics and SJ's music....but it was Joy-Asha magic that made those songs more popular. Though the film was not a big hit, people remember the film and its actors for those ever green hits......

Bengali movies???
Ya...sure..he is a Bengali....

Problem with Indian films is that only Bollywood films are known by all. Other language films and its songs are like a dark territory or continent for most of us. Isn't it?

I agree. However fact remains that Hindi is understood and spoken in larger area than other languages. Hence Bollywood films in Hindi are more popular. Gemini and AVM from South also promoted Hindi films. I do not know why they are inactive now.
Yes he was Bengali but bengali movies I did not hear before.

About films........not sure
I am not sure if he did any Bengali films but Mukherjee family did move to Mumbai and Sashadhar Mukherjee set up Hindustan Film studio to produce many Hindi renowned films. The famous actress Tanjua was married into this family.
